AETHER brings local audio and MIDI playback, headphone correction, signal processing, hardware-aware profiles and real-time analysis into one continuous Windows workflow. It is designed for listeners who want direct control over the playback chain and visible evidence of what the system is doing.
- Local audio and MIDI playback with a persistent listening library and playlists.
- Parametric EQ with up to 16 bands, per-band control and persistent MIDI Learn mappings.
- AutoEQ headphone correction using locally supplied profile data.
- Scientific Target comparison, residual analysis and correction workflows.
- Acoustic Space convolution with a built-in impulse-response library and support for local IR files.
- Synergy Wizard, My Gear and Zones for saving the complete configuration associated with headphones, DACs, amplifiers and listening locations.
- Real-time analysis including spectrum, RTA, waveform, oscilloscope, Lissajous, goniometer and StageMap views.
- Integrity, measurement and diagnostic reports for inspecting the playback path.
- Experimental VST3 hosting for compatible plug-ins.
- WASAPI and ASIO workflows, subject to the capabilities of the installed hardware and drivers.
The beta is free and is currently distributed directly by the project. It is intended for evaluation and technical feedback. Because the Windows installer does not yet carry an Authenticode signature, Microsoft Defender SmartScreen may display a warning. Review the download information and verify the published file details before installation.
AETHER does not include personal music libraries or private user presets in its public distribution. Native AutoEQ, Scientific Target and impulse-response resources are distributed as application data where applicable.
Use GitHub Issues for reproducible bugs and feature requests. Please include:
- AETHER version and Windows version.
- Audio interface, DAC, amplifier and headphones.
- Driver mode and sample rate.
- Exact steps needed to reproduce the problem.
- Screenshot, report or diagnostic export when available.
