vs2026 project context menu is broken

Describe the bug

The project context menu stops working after installing this extension in Visual Studio 2026.

May be related to the Chinese name of the system username.
On VS2022 don't has this issues.

To Reproduce

Maybe:Create a chinese username at windows 11,then create a project (any type), selected project and right-click:Add->New Item/Project Reference

I created an account with the name "张伟" and wasn't able to recreate the issue.
There's nothing in our extension that uses the account name that is connected with the project context menu.

Can you confirm that if you remove the extension and then perform the same action that it works as expected?

The error message looks like it is coming from Visual Studio rather than anything in the extension directly.
If you repair VS and then reinstall the extension, does it still occur?
If you use the non-insiders version of VS do you see the same behavior?

Yes,when i remove the extension ,everything be ok.
Are you use the "张伟" to login? It seems because of vs2026 store setting-data at user-directory.
Now, i just use vs2022.
Maybe it is vs2026 own's issue.

I used the "张伟" account to log in to Windows and then tried to use the functionality within the extension, including the project context menu.

Yes, the extension stores some information in user-specific paths, but none of them are triggered when opening the project context menu?
Are you also seeing errors when doing something else?

Maybe you should re-install vs2026 and have it store the data in "张伟" user directory. I think, just switching account to "张伟" did not result in any changes of vs2026,it's data still stored in your original user-directory,so it did not trigger this issue.

No, Previewer is ok and create new project from ava-template is ok.

Let me add that this is what the AI told me. The possible reasons for this issue are chinese-directory. I'm not entirely sure about them, but I do agree of 80%.

We've had someone else try to reproduce this on a machine with Chinese language settings, and they've been unable to.
I wonder if the language difference is a red herring and if the problem is actually something else. Still trying to work out what it could be.

I'm very sorry for giving the wrong way.
For vs2026, I tried resetting user settings, removing all plugins and reinstalling, and repairing, but nothing worked.

I'm sorry to ask for more details, but I can't see any other way to try and recreate this.

From your screen capture, it looks like this is happening when you click on "Add Item".

• Can you confirm that's the case?
• Does it happen with other menu options?
• Does it happen when you have other projects open?

Please can you also try capturing logs from VS itself. (As it's crashing, it really should produce some.)

• From the command line run "%programfiles%\Microsoft Visual Studio\18\Enterprise\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe" /log (Change "Enterprise" to "Community" or "Professional" as necessary)
• Run the app to recreate the issue.
• Get the log file from %AppData%\Microsoft\VisualStudio<version>\ActivityLog.xml and share here.

I'm sorry, when I run vs2026, It's updated and this issues has disappeared.
I can't recreate it again.
It seems vs-team fixed it.
