About The Project

An investigation of turing patterns on (no-boundary, smooth) 2D manifolds (in 3D space) using numerical (FEM) and analytical methods.

Progress so far

  • Preliminary simulation tests:
    • Simulated and reproduced known results of the Schnakenberg system on a sphere
    • Simulated Gray-Scott (GS) system on the Dziuk surface
    • Simulated Gray-Scott system on a sphere
    • Solved time-dependent heat equation on Dziuk surface
    • Solved stationary heat equation on Dziuk surface
    • Solved stationary heat equation on sphere (See 02_LBO_onSphere)
  • Created refined meshes, using a manually initial mesh (4nodes-8triangles).
  • Created custom mapping and CellValues (in accordance with Ferrite.jl devdocs) for 2d triangular surface meshes embedded in 3D space.
