VoiceInk is a voice-to-text transcription app that helps you capture your thoughts by converting speech to text. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data when you use our app.
- What we collect: VoiceInk records audio when you press the record button
- How we use it: Audio is used solely for transcription purposes
- Storage: Audio files are stored locally on your device and may be sent to third-party cloud services based on your chosen settings
- Retention: You can delete individual recordings at any time by swiping in the notes list
- VoiceInk Default Service: When using our default transcription service (powered by Groq), we collect and process your audio data using our API keys
- Data Sharing: Audio files are sent to Groq's servers for processing and may be temporarily stored there according to their privacy policy
- Purpose: This allows you to use transcription features immediately without setup
- What we collect: If you choose to use other cloud services (Groq, Deepgram, Cerebras, Gemini), you must provide your own API keys
- How we use it: API keys are used exclusively to authenticate with your chosen cloud services
- Storage: API keys are stored locally on your device
- Purpose: These keys enable the app to use third-party cloud services for transcription and text post-processing
VoiceInk offers multiple processing options:
- VoiceInk Default: Powered by Groq - works immediately without any API key setup
- Data Processing: We manage the API keys and handle data processing on your behalf
- Privacy: Your data is processed according to Groq's Privacy Policy
VoiceInk integrates with additional third-party cloud services. For these services, you must provide your own API keys:
- Groq: Speech-to-text transcription (separate from default service)
- Deepgram: Speech-to-text transcription
- Cerebras: Text post-processing
- Google Gemini: Text post-processing
- Whisper.cpp: Local on-device transcription (no data leaves your device)
For Default Service:
- Audio files are sent to Groq's servers for processing
- We manage the connection using our API keys
For Custom Cloud Services:
- Audio files are sent to your chosen transcription service using your API keys
- Text content may be sent to your chosen AI service for post-processing
- Each service has its own privacy policy - please review them:
- Default Service: Works immediately without any setup (powered by Groq)
- Local Processing: Choose Whisper for complete privacy - all data stays on your device
- Custom Cloud Services: Use your own API keys with other providers
- Delete individual notes by swiping in the notes list
- All data is stored locally on your device
- Uninstalling the app removes all local data
- Default Service: We manage secure connections to Groq's servers using our API keys
- Custom Services: Data processing occurs through your own API keys with third-party cloud services
- Local Processing: All data stays on your device and never leaves
- We prioritize your privacy and only process data necessary for transcription functionality
VoiceInk is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
