fix(hooks): enforce path policies on Antigravity's current file tools - #964
Fixes#961. Path policies, and the always-on guard over failproofai's own state, silently allow Antigravity's current file tools.
agy delivers the tools below. The tool name or the keys were missing from our maps, so a policy saw no path and allowed the call, with no error or warning anywhere.
Tool
agy sends (captured live on 1.4.9 and 1.4.12)
Mapped before this PR
read_file
Path
no Path
write_file
Path, Content
tool name unknown
edit_file
Path, Target, Replacement
none of these keys
The issue reports only read_file. Adding Path to Read alone would have left writes and edits open, including writes over .failproofai/policies-config.json, which is how an agent could switch enforcement off.
Evidence
Real agy 1.4.12 on the code before and after this fix:
Agent action
Before
After
Read .env
secret printed
refused
Overwrite .env
overwritten
refused
Edit .env
edited
refused
Create id_rsa
created
refused
Overwrite .failproofai/policies-config.json
overwritten
refused
Reads, writes and edits of ordinary project files still go through. The bypass also reproduces through a real running daemon on 1.0.13-beta.2.
The change
ANTIGRAVITY_TOOL_MAP and ANTIGRAVITY_TOOL_INPUT_MAP learn the current tool set. The older view_file and write_to_file spellings stay mapped for installs that have not updated.
Unit tests for the mapping, and e2e tests that run these payloads through the real binary. The 8 deny cases failed before the fix with a silent allow.
Version 1.0.13-beta.3, ready for a branch publish. beta.1 and beta.2 are already on npm from other branches.
Before merge
Publishing beta.3 from this branch burns that version, so bump this PR again before it merges.
The fixed daemon path gets its first live run with the published beta. Local after-fix live runs evaluated in-process.
read_file results are logged as GENERIC in a current transcript, so the audit parser does not pair them with their calls. Audit only, no enforcement impact, not fixed here.
Path-based policies and the always-on guard now recognize current Antigravity file-tool inputs, helping block restricted reads, writes, and edits that previously lacked a mapped path.
Existing support for earlier file-tool input formats remains in place.
Documentation
Updated guidance to describe supported tool mappings and clarify that unknown tools or arguments may pass through without a path for policy checks.
agy delivers read_file {Path}, write_file {Path, Content} and edit_file
{Path, Target, Replacement}. None of those keys were mapped and write_file
was not a known tool, so path policies and the always-on guard over
failproofai's own state saw no path and allowed the call.
Live on agy 1.4.12 against the unfixed code, an agent printed .env,
overwrote and edited it, created id_rsa, and overwrote
.failproofai/policies-config.json. All five are refused with this change,
and normal reads, writes and edits inside the project still go through.
The older view_file and write_to_file spellings stay mapped.

Walkthrough
Antigravity file-tool mappings now recognize current tool names and input keys while retaining legacy aliases. Unit and end-to-end tests cover canonicalization and path-policy outcomes. Documentation, changelog, and package version fields are updated for 1.0.13-beta.3.
The tool map adds write_file. Input maps include current Path, Content, Target, and Replacement keys while retaining legacy aliases. Tests cover these mappings. Documentation and changelog describe the mappings, and version fields change to 1.0.13-beta.3.
A payload factory accepts native tool names and arguments. End-to-end cases check denials for sensitive paths and policy-config writes or edits, and allowed reads of a ~/.gemini skill and an ordinary project file.
Daemon-mode coverage remains a follow-up, and the release note should identify this PR. No daemon-mode runtime failure is established.

Explanation
For #961, ANTIGRAVITY_TOOL_INPUT_MAP now maps Path to file_path for Read, and antigravity-canonicalize.test.ts covers Path while retaining TargetFile, AbsolutePath, and File. The PR also adds the requested related Antigravity file-tool coverage. However, the PR does not report the issue's required stable Antigravity run with daemon mode enabled and CANARY_VERSION_GATED=none, including bash/read PASS without a normalization-guard finding. The reported after-fix runs were in-process, and the published-beta daemon path had not received its first live run.
Resolution
Run the stable Antigravity validation required by #961 with daemon mode enabled and CANARY_VERSION_GATED=none. Confirm bash/read PASS and no normalization-guard finding.

Add daemon-enabled Antigravity coverage for Path normalization.
The native-file cases invoke runHook directly through bun bin/failproofai.mjs --hook PreToolUse. They do not start or configure failproofaid. The canonicalization tests also exercise the TypeScript helper directly. A daemon-only regression in forwarding Path to file_path or enforcing the read policy can therefore pass these tests. Add at least one daemon-enabled read_file denial case with CANARY_VERSION_GATED=none.

warning These cases exercise in-process evaluation without configuring failproofaid. The installed daemon passed the manual checks, but that route remains uncovered by these regression tests. Please add a daemon-enabled read_file denial and ordinary-file allow case, asserting the denial names the actual policy rather than an unavailable daemon.
Approve with a daemon regression-test follow-up. Current Antigravity path enforcement passed through the installed CLI and daemon.
What this changes
Recognizes Antigravity write_file as Write.
Maps current Path, Content, Target and Replacement arguments to canonical policy inputs.
Preserves older tool names and argument aliases.
Adds regression tests and updates release versions to 1.0.13-beta.3.

Evidence
verified
Current read_file Path inputs enforce environment-file and outside-project policies.
Installed hooks denied absolute and relative .env paths, /etc/passwd, sibling-project paths and relative traversal in both evaluation modes.
verified
Current write_file and edit_file inputs enforce path policies and protect failproofai state.
Both modes denied .env writes/edits, private-key creation, and project/global state writes with no configurable policies enabled.
verified
Content, Target and Replacement reach canonical custom-policy inputs.
Custom policies denied native writes and edits based on content, old_string and new_string through the installed CLI and daemon.
verified
Older aliases and ordinary project operations continue working.
Legacy read/write/edit denials remained effective; ordinary native reads/writes/edits, directory reads and Antigravity skill-file reads were allowed.
verified
Mapping and binary regression tests cover the reported bypass.
14 Antigravity canonicalization tests and 19 Antigravity integration tests passed within the complete suites.
Closing in favour of #958, which now carries this fix for the stable 1.0.13 release (cherry-picked as df27ab1). The 1.0.13-beta.3 version bump stays behind, because #958 is already at 1.0.13.
