displayCond for Palette

It's very useful that you can easily use displayCond with content-blocks. It would be even better if this also worked with palettes (e.g. hide/show a palette if a checkbox/switch is checked/unchecked).

I often have palettes whose use is mutually exclusive, so this could greatly simplify things for editors.

Furthermore, it would be wonderful if palettes could be expanded and collapsed via the config.yaml in order to make it more user-friendly in more extensive use cases - just like with collection-items.

@wini2 Unfortunately, TYPO3 Core doesn't have a real grouping mechanism to show/hide groups. Palettes are more a design / structuring mechanic, so you can display fields side by side and have visual sections. We are aware of this limitation in Core, but haven't had any solution, where everyone could agree on.

Funnily, in older TYPO3 versions (I think v6 and older), you could hide palettes with a checkbox. I could totally see a collapsing feature for palettes, or even a new structure, which may come in the future.

As this is a Core limitation, I leave this open for discussion. But nothing we can implement at the moment.

@nhovratov Thank you for the informative answer. This eliminates any doubts I may have misunderstood the description in https://docs.typo3.org/p/friendsoftypo3/content-blocks/main/en-us/YamlReference/FieldTypes/Index.html. The text is probably written in a very general way and not everything refers to all field types.

I almost suspected that the real cause wasn't content-blocks but lies within the core-limitation.
