The README and docs/usage.md told readers to crawl with --traverse --depth N, but the parser only has --max-depth, so the command failed. The license section also said the software is not for commercial use; LICENSE is the plain GPL-3.0, which grants commercial use and forbids adding restrictions, so the line misled readers about their rights. Its [LICENSE](LICENSE) link was relative in a README that Docker Hub and PyPI both render, where it breaks.

  • --depth -> --max-depth in the README and usage page.
  • License: one GPL-3.0-or-later line with an absolute link; the license badge is the dynamic one. setup.py says GPL-3.0-or-later and ships LICENSE again (license_files=["LICENSE"]; python -m build and twine check with twine 7.0.0 pass, which the old twine 6 workaround predates).
  • docs/installation.md -> docs/getting-started.md: Python 3.10+ stated (the old badge said 3.8-3.11), the stale version badges removed, and Docker now pulls the published drumsergio/wayback-diff:1.1.0 (run on a mini: exit 0; the image is amd64, noted).
  • docs/ci.md is about gating your own pipeline on the exit codes, so it folds into usage.md as "CI/CD integration"; its Actions example installs from PyPI instead of from this repo's source.
  • docs/related.md drops the self-link and marks the archived n8n node.

Rename cost: links to docs/installation.md and docs/ci.md from the README copies already on PyPI and Docker Hub will 404 until the next sync; GitHub does not redirect renamed files.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Added a getting-started guide with Python requirements and instructions for installing and running Wayback-Diff, including Docker.
    • Expanded usage guidance with CI/CD examples and clarified the traversal option.
    • Consolidated installation and CI/CD guidance into the getting-started and usage pages.
    • Updated related-project listings and README links and badges.
  • Other
    • Updated package metadata to describe its functionality and reflect the GPL-3.0-or-later license.

…n-commercial clause

README and usage.md cited --depth; the parser only knows --max-depth. The
license section said the software is not for commercial use, which the GPL in
LICENSE does not allow anyone to add; it is now one GPL-3.0-or-later line with
an absolute link, since Docker Hub and PyPI both render this README.
installation.md becomes getting-started.md with a pinned Docker image, ci.md
folds into usage.md, the license badge is dynamic, and setup.py says
GPL-3.0-or-later and ships the LICENSE file again (twine 7 accepts it).

Users installing the optional visual extra from zsh may need to quote the requirement for the documented command to work. The workaround is simple, so the remaining risk is bounded.
