docs(ai-migration): cover gaps found migrating the stream-video sample apps - #3361
Cover the gaps in the v14 β v15 AI migration guide that the stream-video-js sample-app migration hit (GetStream/stream-video-js#2559). Gaps already fixed by #3356 were dropped.
π Implementation details
Checked against stream-chat-react@15.0.0-rc.3 (and 14.10.0 for the v14 comparisons). The new snippets type-check.
List widths:--str-chat__channel-list-width / --str-chat__thread-list-width default to 100% with flex-shrink: 0. In a view with a list beside a <Slot>, the slot collapses and the page scrolls sideways. Added to Panel layout and the silent-break table.
Active row: v14 styled [aria-pressed=true] and [aria-selected=true]; v15 styles only [aria-selected=true]. Updated the active prop row, the CustomItem example and the Β§19 table.
Open channel outside ChatView: an app component that reads useWorkspaceNavigation() next to ChatView always gets openChannels: []. Render it as a ChatView child, which sits inside the provider and stays mounted across view switches.
Stability: only layouts re-creates the layout controller. views is read per render, and slot renderers are called as plain functions, so neither has to be module-scoped. The comments and the Β§6 bullet are relaxed accordingly. If stability is meant as a contract, keep the old wording and I'll drop this part.
i18n: 62 v14 keys (live, Create, Submit, typing strings, ...) have no key-map entry, so "never an SDK key" was wrong for them. Step 3 is reworded, and i18n-v15-migration.md gets the list. Please check whether any of them were renamed and just missed in the map.
β¦e apps
- list width variables default to 100% and crowd out the slot beside them
- the active channel row is styled through aria-selected only
- app components reading the open channel must render inside ChatView
- only layouts has to be referentially stable
- v14 i18n keys with no key-map entry (live, Create, Submit, ...)
The migration guide needs several small accuracy and accessibility wording fixes, but the changes do not affect runtime behavior.

Full details: Title check
Explanation
The title names the change type and scope (docs for the ai-migration guide) and states the purpose (covering gaps found while migrating the stream-video sample apps). It matches the changeset, which adds gap coverage to the v14-to-v15 AI migration guide and the i18n migration guide. The title is specific enough for a reader scanning history, though it does not name the main content areas (list widths, active-row styling, stability guidance, i18n keys).
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description follows the template's Goal and Implementation details sections and gives a clear, specific account of the changes. It explains the list-width, active-row, ChatView-children, stability, and i18n changes and links the source PR and ticket. The UI Changes section is present and states 'None (docs only).' The description is mostly complete.

Checked against master (cf7a9f14e). The width, active-row and i18n claims hold. Four things to adjust:
1. "Only layouts must be stable" is too broad. The layout controller is re-created when any of layouts, duplicateEntityPolicy or resolveDuplicateEntity changes (ChatView.tsx:275-280), so an inline resolveDuplicateEntity also closes everything that was open. slotRenderers doesn't touch the controller, but it feeds useMemo(() => resolveSlotKindRegistry(slotRenderers), [slotRenderers]), and WorkspaceNavigationAdapter lists that registry in its deps. Built in render, it gives a new navigation object on every ChatView render: every useWorkspaceNavigation() consumer re-renders, and effects keyed on openChannel and friends re-run. So "may be built in render" is right for correctness, but I'd still recommend keeping slotRenderers stable, and name resolveDuplicateEntity next to layouts.
2. ChatView children render only with views, or with no layout. With layout='nav-rail-entity-list-workspace', content is the WorkspaceLayout and children is dropped (ChatView.tsx:376-395). The CallPanel example passes views, so it works, but "Pass it as a ChatView child" should say it needs views.
3. The new silent-break row is broader than the cause. "Inside ChatView, the channel list or thread list fills the view" happens in a views layout that renders a list beside a <Slot>, as the Panel layout text says. With the built-in layout the list is rendered inside a slot and takes the slot's width. I'd start the row with "In views that render a list beside a <Slot>".
4. Thread rows changed the same way.ThreadListItemUI.scss:34 moved from [aria-pressed='true'] (v14.10.0) to [aria-selected='true'], like the channel row. A custom thread-list row needs aria-selected={isActive} too, so the Β§19 table row could cover .str-chat__thread-list-item as well.
On the i18n question: I reproduced the 62: en.json at v14.10.0, plural suffixes folded, against the key map's 627 entries. I found none that were renamed and missed. The v15 strings that look close are rewordings that are already mapped (for example, v14's {{ user }} is typing... is gone, while {{ typing }} is typing maps to typing.singleUser). A few of the 62, such as the old typing strings, look like they were already unused in v14, which doesn't change the advice.
The stability comments now name resolveDuplicateEntity with layouts and recommend keeping slotRenderers stable (the registry feeds the navigation adapter). Only views is described as safe to build in render.
The children paragraph says it needs a views layout, and that the built-in nav-rail-entity-list-workspace layout doesn't render children.
The silent-break row now starts with "In views that render a list beside a <Slot>".
The Β§19 row covers .str-chat__thread-list-item too, with aria-selected={isThreadActive(thread.id)} for a custom thread row.

Nothing to wire. `ChatView` provides the navigation and binds what is opened into a layout slot. To customize it (for example, open beside the current channel on β/ctrl-click), pass `deriveWorkspaceNavigation`, which receives the SDK-derived navigation and returns the members to override. It must be referentially stable.
The same holds for your own components. Anything that reads `useWorkspaceNavigation()` (an "in a call" panel, a header badge for the open channel) has to render inside `ChatView`. Pass it as a `ChatView` child in a `views` layout: children render inside the provider, before the active view, and stay mounted when the view switches. The built-in `layout="nav-rail-entity-list-workspace"` does not render `children`. `openChannels` lists the active view's channels, so it is empty while the threads view is shown.
Qualify the openChannels statement for custom layouts.
The example passes layouts, and a custom threads layout can contain channel bindings. State that openChannels is empty only when the active threads view has no channel bindings.

| `latestMessagePreview` (`ChannelListItemUIProps`), `getLatestMessagePreview` (`ChannelListItem` and `ChannelList` props) | Render `<SummarizedMessagePreview latestMessage={previewedMessage} ... />`, or override the `SummarizedMessagePreview` slot with `WithComponents` (`SummarizedMessagePreviewProps`: `{ latestMessage, messageDeliveryStatus, participantCount }`). |

| `active` | Unchanged prop; it now defaults to `useWorkspaceNavigation().isChannelActive(cid)`. `ChannelListItem` passes the resolved value to `ChannelListItemUI` as `active`. The SDK's CSS highlights `.str-chat__channel-list-item[aria-selected=true]` only (v14 also matched `[aria-pressed=true]`), so a custom row that keeps the SDK class sets `role="option"` and `aria-selected={active}` |

Omit aria-selected on inactive custom rows.
The built-in src/components/ChannelListItem/ChannelListItemUI.tsx:112-125 uses aria-selected={active || undefined}. Its comment explains that false makes screen readers announce βnot selectedβ on every inactive row. Update the table, channel-row example, and thread-row guidance to omit the attribute when the row is inactive.

These v14 keys (from `src/i18n/en.json` at `v14.10.0`, plural suffixes folded) have no entry in the key map. A `t()` call on one of them no longer compiles (`TS2769`), and a dictionary entry for one never matches. Copy you still need is app-owned now: give it a key of your own through `asDynamicKey`, with the English inline, and keep its translations in your dictionaries ([Calling `t` in your own components](#calling-t-in-your-own-components)).
