Follow-up R5 from the microsoft/AI-Engineering-Coach exploration (docs/superpowers/explorations/2026-06-16-ai-engineering-coach-findings.md, issue #340). Decision record, not a build task.
The question
The MS project has a Learning Center / Achievements layer: quizzes from real usage, XP-based progression (Bronze → Silver → Gold → Diamond). We have literacy levels (L0–L5) but no engagement mechanics (badges, XP, streaks, quizzes).
Recommendation: likely decline
Engagement mechanics sit off our literacy-depth thesis — the framework measures capability and habitat coherence, not participation. Gamification risks optimising for the proxy (XP) over the goal (literacy).
When to revisit
Only as an opt-in surface if a concrete adopter need surfaces (e.g. onboarding motivation for a large team).
Close as wontfix with this rationale unless there's appetite to keep it open as a parked idea.
