How to publish a new release

This guide collects the steps that should be done taken when publishing a new release. It targets developers at JAM Software.

Publish the new release on GitHub

1. Create a new branch of our mono-repo
2. Use the current state of the master branch there
3. run all unit and UI level tests of the 3 major products
4. If tests fail, verify if this is related to the new version of Virtual TreeView, fix if necessary.
5. Make sure the unit tests of Virtual TreeView succeeded.
6. Draft a new release
7. Use V8.X.Y for the release name as well as for the new tag.
8. Click "Generate release notes", then "Publish release".

Publish the new release on DPM

1. If not yet done, download and install the DPM client.
2. Run the DSpec Creator tool from the Start menu.
3. Open the file Jam.VirtualTreeView.dspec
4. Change the version number to the above one.
5. On the "Pack" tab, click the Pack button.
6. On the "Upload" tab, click the Upload button. The API key can be found in our password safe.
7. Save the changed DSPEC file and commit it to the repo.
