the examples opened with an office suite, a store, and a firmware updater
The flagship declarations are what someone builds first, so their
package lists are read as kuma's opinion about what a machine should
have rather than as filler. Nine flatpaks in niri.toml and eight in
cosmic.toml made the first build longer and the first boot's
convergence heavier, to install three apps a person either already has
an opinion about or does not want.
LibreOffice, Bazaar, and org.gnome.Firmware are gone from both. What
stays is the set a desktop is unusable without: a browser, an image
viewer, a document viewer, a calculator, a video player, and on niri a
text editor. cosmic.toml keeps five rather than six because COSMIC has
never carried a text editor flatpak, pulling cosmic-edit as a package
instead (00c9b06).
Bazaar being in there was deliberate, not an oversight: the convergence
work that made removal safe is what allowed a store to be declared at
all. Nothing about that changed. It is out because an example is a
starting point and a store is a choice, not because declaring one is a
problem. Add it back with `kuma add --flatpak io.github.kolunmi.Bazaar`.
docs/concepts.md still uses Bazaar as its worked example of an app you
installed yourself, and still should: that passage turns on the app
being undeclared, and every other app named in it is either declared or
on the removal list.
Examples only. The desktop package sets, which are what a declaration
cannot practically reassemble by hand, are untouched.1 parent 920f5e6 commit e1c6238
