Comment Style

  • Write comments in English.
  • Use the /** ... */ syntax at the beginning of a function to write comments, focusing on aspects that are not easily understood by reading the function interface.
  • The same applies to computed and watch watchEffect ... etc in Vue - add comments when their purpose is not clear from their name.
  • Avoid writing comments inside the function body unless the code logic is very complex.

Software Design Guidelines

1. Actions execute internally — never return work for the caller to do

A function that performs a side effect should own the entire operation. Do not return an intermediate result (command tuple, query string, config object) that every caller must then execute the same way — that leaks implementation details and duplicates logic.

// Bad — caller must know how to spawn and handle exit codes

// Good — implementation handles everything, caller just awaits

2. Use a generic logger callback — not lifecycle-specific hooks

When the caller needs visibility into what is happening, accept a logger: (message: string) => void callback. The implementation decides what to log and when; the caller decides how to display it. Avoid hooks tied to specific internal steps (e.g. onBeforeRun, onAfterWrite) — they couple the caller to execution order and break when internals change.

3. Options objects over positional arguments

Functions that accept configuration should take a single options object. New fields can be added without changing call sites, and callers only specify what they care about.

// Bad — adding a field changes every call site

// Good — extensible, self-documenting at call sites
runScript(options: { scriptName: string; args?: string[]; cwd?: string })

Code Quality

After writing code, run pnpm run lint --fix and pnpm run typecheck to ensure there are no issues. After writing code, write or update and run relevant tests to ensure quality. If the code is for fixing a feature, first write a failing test to reproduce the issue, then implement the fix, and run the tests again.
