Ported Brute: no scripted move that the engine runs when requested #28

Open

Description

@sp00ktober

ports/brute_tigrex.toml declares one move, charge = (2, 8). Requested from a brain through mhfu_port's play() (native seam: em_request), the engine enters it and is back in (0, 1) within a tick. That happened in the snowy-mountains base camp and in section 1, with the Brute 2000 units from the hunter. The engine's own enter-actions in the same window were (2,19), (2,15), (2,22), (2,14) and (2,1), never (2,8).

(1, 4), the Tigrex charge as mhfu_port's notes describe it, is entered natively and provisioned, but then parks in phase 3. The Brute creeps a few units per tick and the pair holds until something else replaces it. That run also declared after = "skid" = (0, 3) with hold_max = 8, and it still parked.

So examples/ported_brute.lua only reports where the Brute is, and scripts no move.

Own moves (#55, #56) are a second route that needs no pair the engine holds: a move without main/sub is played by the framework's move player on its carrier, with its own attack windows, steer and after (the Zinogre's stamp and dash run this way).

  • Make [moves.charge] an own move: drop main/sub, give it attack windows on the clip's hitting frames, steer toward the hunter, and an after stop
  • Play it: a [behaviour] path for the Brute (e.g. idle, hunter distance, then charge), or port:move("charge") back in examples/ported_brute.lua
  • Check in game that the charge runs its whole clip and can hit
  • Optional, only if the host charge's own hitbox and damage are wanted: a charge pair that holds when forced (mhfu census over a fight, then a forced run per candidate), or the provisioning a requested (1, 4) is missing

Done when the Brute charges the hunter on its own clip, from its behaviour or the example's brain, and the charge can hit.
