Running the Python version-policy helper leaves scripts/__pycache__/ as untracked checkout dirt. Ignore that generated helper cache so normal version checks do not obstruct closeout synchronization.

Validation: the existing compiled bytecode was identified before ignoring it; git check-ignore -v, git diff --check, the formatter hook check and the version-policy check pass. Package versions remain unchanged.

Reviewed the complete merge-base-to-head diff against main (merge-base 77a7623, head 17d0826): one added rule in .gitignore.

  • /scripts/__pycache__/ is rooted, so it matches only the directory the version-policy helper (scripts/mw-version.py) writes. I confirmed with git check-ignore -v on a probe file (removed afterwards) that the rule matches and leaves the worktree clean.
  • No tracked bytecode exists under __pycache__ (git ls-files finds none), so ignoring it hides nothing already versioned.
  • git diff --check is clean. Only a gitignore line changes, so no package version bump applies under docs/version-policy.md; the Version policy check passes.
  • The Documentation/policy check passes. The application build job was still running when I submitted; this change cannot affect it.

No material defects. No blocking or non-blocking findings.
