Recycle Bin Native View Test

Testing Instructions

1. Verify Recycle Bin Opens as Native Directory

  • Click "Recycle Bin" in the sidebar (under "System" section)
  • Expected: Should open as a tab in the main file explorer view
  • NOT expected: Should NOT open a modal dialog

2. Check Breadcrumb Navigation

  • At the top, breadcrumb should show: Recycle Bin
  • Should be clickable like normal paths

3. Verify File Listing

  • Recycle Bin items should appear in the main file list
  • Items deleted from your computer should be visible
  • Switch between Grid/List/Details view - all should work

4. Test Recycle Bin Actions

  • Right-click any item in Recycle Bin
  • Should see "Restore" option (restore to original location)
  • Should see "Permanently Delete" option
  • Should see standard options like "Copy", "Cut", etc.

5. Check Debug Console

Open the application's debug console (DevTools) to verify:

  • Look for logs starting with [RECYCLE BIN]
  • Should see messages like:
    • [RECYCLE BIN] Sidebar clicked - opening recycle bin
    • [RECYCLE BIN] Successfully loaded recycle bin: X items
    • Sample recycle bin items being converted to FileEntry format

6. Compare with Other Directories

  • Open a normal folder (e.g., Downloads)
  • Compare the behavior with Recycle Bin
  • Should behave identically - same toolbar, same context menu, same view modes

7. Test Tab Switching

  • Click on Recycle Bin to open it
  • Navigate to a normal folder
  • Click on Recycle Bin tab - should switch back to recycle bin view instantly

Key Improvements Made

✅ Recycle Bin tabs are created exactly like normal directory tabs ✅ Recycle Bin items are converted to FileEntry format for unified handling ✅ Context menu actions (Restore, Permanently Delete) added ✅ Comprehensive debug logging for troubleshooting ✅ No modal dialogs - integrates as native directory explorer

Debug Logging

The app now includes detailed logging:

  • [RECYCLE BIN] prefix for all recycle bin operations
  • Shows item count and sample data
  • Tracks tab creation and navigation
  • Logs when paths are detected and converted

To see logs: Open Developer Console (F12) and look for "RECYCLE BIN" entries
