mayr_fake_api v2.0.0 - Project Summary

Overview

This document summarizes the complete implementation of the mayr_fake_api package version 2.0.0, a Flutter package that intercepts API calls and returns fake JSON responses from local files during development. This major release introduces a flat JSON structure for simplified asset management and adds debug logging capabilities.

✅ Completed Features

V2.0.0 New Features

  1. Flat JSON Structure

    • Uses dot notation instead of nested directories (e.g., user.profile.get.json)
    • Simplifies asset management - only one directory needed in pubspec.yaml
    • Automatically tries flat structure first, then falls back to nested (v1.x)
    • Supports dynamic wildcards in flat structure (e.g., user.-.profile.get.json)
  2. Debug Mode

    • New debug parameter in MayrFakeApi.init()
    • Console logging of request interception, file loading, and responses
    • Helps developers troubleshoot fake API issues
    • Can be enabled conditionally (e.g., debug: kDebugMode)
  3. Organizational Changes

    • Repository transferred to MayR-Labs organization
    • All URLs updated to reflect new ownership
    • LICENSE updated to MayR Labs
  4. Backward Compatibility

    • Full compatibility with v1.x nested structure
    • Seamless migration path for existing users
    • No breaking changes required

Core Functionality (From V1.0.0)

  1. Dio Interceptor Integration

    • Custom MayrFakeInterceptor extends Dio's Interceptor
    • Seamlessly integrates with existing Dio instances
    • Non-invasive design - can be enabled/disabled at runtime
  2. Path Resolution

    • Converts HTTP request paths to asset file paths
    • Removes domain names and leading slashes
    • Maps HTTP methods to corresponding JSON files
  3. HTTP Method Support

    • GET → user.profile.get.json (v2.0) or get.json (v1.x)
    • POST → user.profile.post.json (v2.0) or post.json (v1.x)
    • PUT → user.profile.put.json (v2.0) or put.json (v1.x)
    • DELETE → user.profile.delete.json (v2.0) or delete.json (v1.x)
    • Any HTTP method supported
  4. Dynamic Path Support (Wildcards)

    • Use - as wildcard in path (e.g., user.-.profile.get.json in v2.0)
    • Use - in directory structure (e.g., user/-/profile/get.json in v1.x)
    • Matches any value in that path segment
    • Supports multiple wildcards in a single path
  5. Placeholder Replacement

    • $1, $2, $3, etc. - Replaced with wildcard values
    • $timestamp - Replaced with current ISO 8601 timestamp
    • Works recursively in nested JSON structures
  6. Empty File Handling

    • Automatically returns 204 No Content for empty JSON files
    • No special configuration required
  7. Error Simulation

    • error.json files for simulating errors
    • Only used when statusCode >= 400
    • Automatically throws DioException with error data
  8. Custom 404 Resolver

    • Optional callback for handling missing endpoints
    • Default 404 response provided
    • Full control over not-found behavior
  9. Network Delay Simulation

    • Configurable delay duration
    • Simulates network latency
    • Helps test loading states
  10. Enable/Disable Toggle

    • Runtime enable/disable support
    • Integration with kDebugMode
    • Easy production/development switching
