Enable opt-in confidence-guided verification for embedded DeepSeek-V4 DSpark decode batches. A trained confidence head and measured verifier costs select the verification window. Drafting still produces the full physical block, and target verification and acceptance rules are unchanged. Confidence scheduling is experimental and disabled by default.
Validate trained confidence-head weights before embedded checkpoint loading.
Connect the policy to decoder inputs, metadata, graph selection and executor scheduling, with executed-window ownership and graph-shape/padding-resource guards.
Reuse structurally valid measured artifacts, or opt into stricter freshness checks with validate_confidence_artifact_freshness=True. Strict mode requires the original graph ladder, a matching supplied live fingerprint and a pinned positive workload-admission receipt; missing or denied admission resolves to feature-off execution.
Add regression coverage and regenerate the serving schemas and telemetry manifest. Artifact paths and receipt hashes are excluded from telemetry.
Scope and dependencies
This is PR6 of the DSpark confidence stack and builds on merged #20072. The configuration, loader and runtime changes form one activation contract: enabling the policy requires validated artifacts, compatible execution and sampling, and the corresponding decoder/graph plumbing.
Enabled scheduling requires an embedded draft, padded CUDA graphs and PP1/CP1. Unsupported enabled configurations are rejected; physical K1 resolves to feature-off execution. Context-containing steps retain native execution. Mixed-step scheduling, optional fused selection and attention-kernel dispatch changes are not included.
This PR consumes artifacts; it does not provide profiling or receipt-generation tooling. Hashes establish integrity and consistency, not signatures or origin. Artifact production and deployment identity remain an external trust boundary. Artifacts must remain immutable from admission through runtime use.
Test Coverage
734 CPU tests passed: 126 serving-schema, 428 configuration and 180 focused tests, with no failures, errors or skips. Another 180 non-CPU cases were deselected.
The actual-package constructor regression failed on the original and restored-original source and passed with the fix. Schema/telemetry generation and checks passed; full pre-commit passed on the identical supported candidate.
CPU validation used the pinned release image and matching wheel on supported source base d9c4f3ba3a9e6479ee55a512a7b5a868137f23b0, with normal native package initialization and a CUDA linker stub. The final-main port preserves the tested change blobs and generated outputs; disjoint upstream changes were source-reviewed only. This is not final-main native-build or CI validation. CUDA-graph replay, distributed execution and full-model correctness remain unverified.
PR Checklist
Documented opt-in behavior, supported scope and artifact trust boundaries.
Added CPU regression coverage and regenerated schemas and telemetry metadata.
Kept mixed-step scheduling and optional fusion out of scope.
Pending requirements before merge
The following requirements remain incomplete; this PR is not merge-ready.
Complete final-main native/CI, CUDA-graph, distributed and model validation.
Obtain required maintainer and telemetry/privacy approvals.
Dev Engineer Review
Confidence scheduling is disabled by default. When enabled, drafting still produces the full physical block; the policy selects a measured verification window without changing target verification or acceptance rules.
Runtime behavior depends on configuration validation, artifact loading, request admission, graph-shape agreement, padding resources, and KV-cache reservations. Verify fallback behavior when admission fails or a graph agreement cannot queue.
Strict freshness mode requires a matching live fingerprint, the original graph ladder, and positive workload admission. Reuse mode accepts structurally valid artifacts without freshness checks. Artifact hashes establish integrity and consistency, not origin.
Unsupported enabled configurations are rejected. Physical K=1 resolves to feature-off execution. Confidence-head checkpoint loading now validates parameter names and shapes.
The author reports 734 CPU tests passed, with no failures, errors, or skips; 180 non-CPU cases were deselected. Schema and telemetry checks passed, as did pre-commit on the supported candidate. The associated L0 merge-request pipeline failed. Final-main native-build or CI validation, CUDA-graph replay, distributed execution, and full-model correctness remain unverified. Maintainer and telemetry/privacy approvals remain incomplete.
QA Engineer Review
Added CPU-focused tests for admission resolution, artifact reuse, checkpoint loading, sampling admission, executor policy, CUDA-graph runtime behavior, worker stamp wrap, dummy-slot ownership, STS temperature validation, and KV-cache reservations. Modified existing executor and disaggregated-transfer tests to initialize new confidence-related fixture state.
Added the KV-cache capacity-only test and workload-admission configuration test to tests/integration/test_lists/test-db/l0_cpu.yml. No manual-QA list changes are reported.
The tests cover configuration, validation errors, and CPU-side policy behavior. They do not establish CUDA-graph replay, distributed execution, or full-model correctness. Coverage verdict: needs follow-up.

Walkthrough
This change adds opt-in DSpark confidence scheduling. It validates configuration, workload-admission receipts, measured cost artifacts, confidence-head weights, and request sampling. The executor coordinates verifier-budget selection across ranks and manages CUDA graph shape agreements and padding resources.
Configuration adds default-off scheduling, optional freshness checks, and artifact paths. Startup checks workload admission and supported runtime settings, then clears confidence inputs when admission fails. The guide and schemas describe configuration and receipt requirements.
Measured-cost artifact validation and selection tensorrt_llm/_torch/speculative/dspark_planner.py, tensorrt_llm/_torch/pyexecutor/engine/runners/decoder/inputs.py, examples/models/core/deepseek_v4/README.md, tests/unittest/_torch/speculative/hw_agnostic/test_dspark_artifact_reuse.py, tests/unittest/_torch/speculative/hw_agnostic/test_dspark_cuda_graph_runtime.py
The loader validates measured costs and graph coverage, and supports either strict freshness checks or artifact reuse. The selector applies different fallback behavior when drain-guard metadata is absent. Runtime input preparation records artifact metadata and runtime details.
Confidence-head loading and request admission tensorrt_llm/_torch/models/modeling_dspark.py, tensorrt_llm/_torch/models/modeling_speculative.py, tensorrt_llm/_torch/speculative/dspark.py, tensorrt_llm/_torch/pyexecutor/engine/runners/decoder/{metadata.py,runner.py,graphs.py}, tests/unittest/_torch/speculative/hw_agnostic/test_dspark_{embedded_confidence_loading,sampling_admission,sts,worker_stamp_wrap_cpu}.py
Checkpoint loading validates confidence-head parameter names and shapes. Request and draft-sampling checks reject unsupported combinations. Temperature loading rejects non-finite or non-positive values, and draft-sequence wraparound resets confidence state.
The executor coordinates yield measurements and verifier-budget selection across ranks, updates verification lengths, and manages graph-shape agreements and padding dummies. Cache-manager construction adjusts reserved index slots when confidence scheduling is enabled. Tests cover selection, graph agreements, padding, and related executor fixtures.

Restore the kernel cache after the shared-scratch test.
This test clears _dspark_attention_kernel_cache and leaves eight compiled entries in it. test_self_jit_reuses_one_kernel_across_runtime_shapes_and_scales clears the cache before it runs, so test order does not cause a failure now. Other tests in the module do not reset the cache. Those tests can see a hot cache depending on order, so a cache-miss path can go untested. Use a fixture that saves the cache and restores it on teardown.
Coverage summary: the reference, graph-replay, batched-fallback, self-JIT, and capture-rejection tests are parameterized over K=1..8. The changes add zero-length scratch-row cases and use nonzero draft padding to check masking. These tests need SM100/SM103 GPUs. The l0_* lists do not show which GPU list runs this file. Verdict: needs follow-up.

Add direct tests for _dspark_confidence_draft_len orchestration.
The new tests cover the wire helpers, _can_queue reuse, and _handle_dynamic_draft_len with this function mocked. No test runs _dspark_confidence_draft_len itself. These behaviors are untested:
When agreement.can_queue is false, the function clears agreed_ragged_bucket, ragged_pad_verify_len, ragged_zero_real_high_rows, and every py_verify_len.
When mixed.apply returns True, the function replaces the agreement with all_can_graph=False, ragged_bucket=None, and reuse_graph_shape=False, then stages confidence.
When there is no exact allocation (selected_verifier_budget == 0 or the secondary dummy is not ready), stale py_verify_len values must be cleared.
When reuse_graph_shape is true and the exact G differs from common_padded_batch_size, the function must raise.
A regression in any of these can replay a stale ragged bucket or a rank-local full graph. That can desynchronize ADP collectives.
Smallest practical test: in tests/unittest/_torch/speculative/hw_agnostic/test_dspark_executor_policy.py, build a PyExecutor.__new__ stub. Give it a fake planner, a fake runner, and dist.tp_allgather_int64 returning crafted payloads. Assert the runner state and py_verify_len for the can_queue=False case and the mixed-apply case.

Use the live iteration when validating cached ADP agreements.
CUDAGraphRunner.maybe_get_cuda_graph and _get_padded_batch pass agreement.iteration to ADPShapeAgreement.matches, so the iteration comparison is always true. A stale agreement can therefore be accepted when a new ScheduledRequests object has the same id() and batch size. One rank may skip the tp_allgather_int64 collective while another rank enters it, which can hang the step.
Pass the executor's live iteration counter to both methods. Clear adp_shape_agreement after the step consumes it so the agreement cannot be reused accidentally.

Reject logits post-processors before ragged verification.
When confidence scheduling selects a ragged window for a generation request with py_logits_post_processors, _forward_step completes the model forward or graph replay and then calls _execute_logit_post_processors. The helper raises RuntimeError, which can abort the entire scheduled step instead of isolating the request.
Reject this combination before scheduling, or disable ragged verification for the whole batch before the forward. Do not clear only one request's py_verify_len unless the resulting batch remains on a uniform layout.

Wrap the draft-sequence counter before it overflows int32.
_draft_seq_host is an unbounded Python int. _draft_seq_cuda and _confidence_stamp are torch.int32. After 2^31 − 1 steps, self._draft_seq_cuda.fill_(self._draft_seq_host) fails with an overflow error. A long-running confidence-enabled server then crashes on its host path.
The stamp is used only for an equality check (stamp != expected_stamp), so a wrapped counter keeps the same semantics. Wrap the host value inside the int32 range. Keep 0 out of the cycle, because 0 is the initial stamp value.
🐛 Proposed fix
prev = self._draft_seq_host
- self._draft_seq_host += 1+ # Stamps are int32 and compared only for equality; wrap before overflow.+ self._draft_seq_host = self._draft_seq_host % (2**31 - 1) + 1
if self._draft_seq_cuda is not None:
self._draft_seq_cuda.fill_(self._draft_seq_host)
return prev
The device expression self._draft_seq_cuda - 1 in verified_draft_seq_cuda must agree with the wrap. With the fix above it does agree on every step except the step right after a wrap. On that step the stamped row reads as stale and falls back to the neutral row, which is fail-safe.

Patch all CUDA allocations in the CPU test.
l0_cpu.yml collects this test subtree. _lazy_init allocates _output_verify_lens with torch.empty(..., device="cuda") and _batch_to_slot with torch.full(..., device="cuda"). Patching only torch.zeros leaves these allocations on CUDA, so the test can fail before its assertions run on a CPU runner.

Skip strict confidence validation when no confidence weights are present.
DSv4DSparkBlock always constructs a confidence head on the last stage. A checkpoint without confidence-head weights therefore produces an empty module_weights mapping, which _validate_checkpoint_weights rejects because proj.weight is missing. This can block feature-off loads.

Rename the test: its name claims coverage that its body does not provide.
The name says admission artifacts are resolved at the TorchLlmArgs boundary. The body only builds a DSparkDecodingConfig with enable_confidence_scheduling=True and checks that the flag stays True. It never calls TorchLlmArgs or _resolve_dspark_confidence_workload_admission. A reader can wrongly conclude that the resolution path is covered here.
Rename it, for example to test_config_accepts_scheduling_without_artifacts. Alternatively, add a short docstring that names the file that tests the TorchLlmArgs admission resolution (test_dspark_admission_resolution.py).
Test coverage summary (tests/unittest/llmapi/test_llm_args.py):
Added class TestDSparkConfidenceScheduling. It covers the defaults, the master-switch requirement, rejection of the removed confidence_verify_len_tiers, the physical K1 fallback, and _validate_dspark_confidence_environment. The environment tests are parameterized over cuda_graph_config=None, enable_padding=False, guided decoding, LoRA, PP>1, CP>1, per-layer dynamic EPLB, and heuristic top-k. A separate test covers the standalone draft, and the accept path covers load_balancer of None or standard.
Not covered here: use_cute_dsl_topk=True rejection and the use_cute_dsl_paged_mqa_logits warning branch.
Verdict: sufficient for the config and environment surface. Workload-admission paths depend on the separate admission test files.

Description
Enable opt-in confidence-guided verification for embedded DeepSeek-V4 DSpark decode batches. A trained confidence head and measured verifier costs select the verification window. Drafting still produces the full physical block, and target verification and acceptance rules are unchanged. Confidence scheduling is experimental and disabled by default.
validate_confidence_artifact_freshness=True. Strict mode requires the original graph ladder, a matching supplied live fingerprint and a pinned positive workload-admission receipt; missing or denied admission resolves to feature-off execution.Scope and dependencies
CPU validation used the pinned release image and matching wheel on supported source base
d9c4f3ba3a9e6479ee55a512a7b5a868137f23b0, with normal native package initialization and a CUDA linker stub. The final-main port preserves the tested change blobs and generated outputs; disjoint upstream changes were source-reviewed only. This is not final-main native-build or CI validation. CUDA-graph replay, distributed execution and full-model correctness remain unverified.PR Checklist
