Dev Engineer Review

  • Adds unified KV-cache support for eligible DFlash and standalone DSpark configurations.
  • Adds per-layer cache specifications for ownership, dtype, geometry, buffer roles, attention windows, sink tokens, reuse policy, and KV factors.
  • Updates cache sizing, allocation, page tables, indexing, buffer views, mixed-format pointers, and storage coalescing.
  • Adds compatibility checks for draft-layer counts, tensor parallelism, attention-DP, attention backends, and cache layouts.
  • Adds native bindings and Python APIs for coalescing groups, layer specifications, draft-cache views, and draft block widths.
  • Key verification areas include heterogeneous layer addressing, mixed-dtype allocation, sharing eligibility and fallback, and disaggregated peer compatibility. Test execution results are not supplied.

QA Engineer Review

  • Adds unit tests for cache sizing, mixed layouts, allocation limits, unified-cache eligibility, disaggregation validation, peer compatibility, rank metadata, and MiniMax cache indexing.
  • Adds TestQwen3_8BDFlash::test_gsm8k_1p1d_unified_draft_kv and a B200 acceptance-length reference.
  • The integration test is listed in tests/integration/test_lists/test-db/l0_dgx_b200.yml. No manual-QA list change is reported.
  • Coverage verdict: needs follow-up. Test execution results and complete integration coverage are not supplied.

Per-File QA Perspective

  • cpp/tensorrt_llm/batch_manager/kv_cache_manager_v2/config.h: Adds coalescingGroup, defaulting to 0. Verify that existing configurations retain compatible coalescing behavior.
  • cpp/tensorrt_llm/batch_manager/kv_cache_manager_v2/storage/config.cpp: Groups buffers by lifecycle, coalescing group, and expanded size. Verify that buffers with different groups do not share storage.
  • cpp/tensorrt_llm/nanobind/batch_manager/kvCacheManagerV2.cpp: Adds the coalescing_group constructor argument and writable property. Verify Python constructor compatibility and property updates.
  • cpp/tensorrt_llm/thop/attentionOp.cpp: Accepts 2D and 3D non-FP4 pointer tables. Verify that mixed-format tables select the correct data-pointer plane.
  • docs/source/features/speculative-decoding.md: Documents shared DFlash draft KV behavior, transfer conditions, layout requirements, and separate-manager cases.
  • tensorrt_llm/_torch/attention/backends/flashinfer.py: Separates page-index spaces using pool mapping, page-index scale, and KV factor. Verify indices for layers with different KV geometry.
  • tensorrt_llm/_torch/attention/backends/sparse/minimax_m3/cache_manager.py: Accepts kv_factor but documents that it does not affect raw slot IDs. Verify callers remain compatible.
  • tensorrt_llm/_torch/disaggregation/native/peer.py: Rejects peers with incompatible draft-layer counts and, for shared draft KV, incompatible TP or attention-DP settings.
  • tensorrt_llm/_torch/disaggregation/native/rank_info.py: Adds draft-layer counts to rank metadata. Verify serialization and compatibility with metadata that lacks the field.
  • tensorrt_llm/_torch/pyexecutor/_util.py: Selects unified or separate managers and forwards explicit layer specifications. Verify sharing gates and sizing for supported and unsupported configurations.
  • tensorrt_llm/_torch/pyexecutor/kv_cache/kv_cache_manager_v2.py: Adds per-layer cache specifications and updates sizing, allocation, indexing, and views. Verify mixed layouts, slot rounding, and the legacy path without explicit specifications.
  • tensorrt_llm/_torch/pyexecutor/scheduler/scheduler_v2.py: Changes a comment about disaggregated generation. The supplied change summary reports no runtime behavior change.
  • tensorrt_llm/_torch/speculative/__init__.py: Exports get_draft_block_width. Verify the package-level import.
  • tensorrt_llm/_torch/speculative/dflash.py: Adds unified-cache binding, layout checks, request-slot handling, and allocation-bound checks. Verify separate-manager fallback and unified-cache error paths.
  • tensorrt_llm/_torch/speculative/dspark.py: Adds DSpark block-width selection for shift-label checkpoints. Verify the legacy-layout fallback.
  • tensorrt_llm/_torch/speculative/interface.py: Skips replay swapping when target and draft managers are the same object. Verify separate-manager behavior remains unchanged.
  • tensorrt_llm/_torch/speculative/utils.py: Adds draft block-width and manager-selection helpers. Verify behavior for missing configs, embedded DSpark, and shared managers.
  • tensorrt_llm/commands/serve.py: Validates disaggregated shared-cache settings and controls TRTLLM_DISAGG_SHARED_DRAFT_KV. Verify startup errors for unsupported configurations.

Share one KVCacheManagerV2 between compatible DFlash target and draft
layers in aggregated and disaggregated serving. Preserve each layer's
cache dtype and head dimension, support attention data parallelism, and
retain the separate-cache fallback for unsupported layouts.

Transfer unified draft layers with target pages, validate peer draft-layer
counts, and add unit and B200 integration coverage.

2194-2212: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick win

Add a test for standalone DSpark backend resolution when attention_backend is "AUTO".

For standalone DSpark with attention_backend == "AUTO", this method reads draft_model.dflash_attention_backend through getattr with a None default. If the attribute is missing or renamed, the backend becomes None. _dflash_unify_blocker then returns a blocker, and the shared cache is silently disabled. No test in this cohort covers the DSpark AUTO path or the embedded-DSpark exclusion. Add cases to tests/unittest/_torch/executor/kv_cache/test_dflash_unified_kv_gate.py for three setups: standalone DSpark with AUTO and a stub draft_model.dflash_attention_backend="TRTLLM" (expect sharing), the same setup with the attribute absent (expect no sharing), and draft_is_embedded_in_target=True (expect None).

The loop over roles does not test the role.

_role is unused. Both iterations build the same creator. The assertion passes only because the test deleted TRTLLM_DISAGG_SHARED_DRAFT_KV. Remove the loop. Rename the second half of the test so that it describes the missing-variable case, or move that half to its own test.

Exercise the TP8 compatible-layout branch.

TP4 already reaches the rank-local comparison and returns False because it has 2 versus 1 KV heads per rank. TP8 is masked by deleting TRTLLM_DISAGG_SHARED_DRAFT_KV: its compatible 1-versus-1 layout still returns False from the environment guard. _should_unify_dflash_kv_cache() does not raise ValueError; that occurs in _check_shared_draft_kv_request().

PR effort8 points — Enables shared target/draft cache behavior without introducing a model architecture. Review requires reconciling checkpoint-resolved draft widths, allocation estimates, runtime capacity and layer-relative page addressing, including mixed-dtype pools and page boundaries. These coupled contracts warrant deep attention review; no kernel implementation change is shown.
ImportanceImportant — Shared-draft allocation headroom and MLA page-index bases are sensitive memory-capacity and addressing contracts. The changes affect whether draft blocks fit and whether attention reads the correct cache pages.

PR effort8 points — Extends unified target/draft cache support through a new resolved-width parameter and standalone/disaggregated selection tests. Review requires reconciling generation capacity, page-rounded estimates, mixed-layout storage and MLA addressing. These interacting cache contracts justify deep review; omitted implementation limits certainty.
ImportanceImportant — Allocation now accounts for a shared drafter's full block, and MLA decode corrects page indices relative to layer-origin buffers. These are sensitive correctness contracts: mistakes can underallocate KV storage or select the wrong physical page.
