[TRTLLM-17333][ci] Replace 8-GPU Ray pre-merge stage with single-GPU GDN decode alignment test - #21050
DGX_B200-8_GPUs-PyTorch-Ray-1 ran one test whose CI branch uses mamba_ssm_cache_dtype=float32, so decode falls back to Triton and the a/b alignment clone it was written for never runs. Cover the clone directly with test_fi_decode_misaligned_ab_slices (runs via the existing unittest/_torch/modules/mamba entry in l0_b200.yml) and drop the stage.
Dev Engineer Review
The change removes the 8-GPU B200 Ray pre-merge stage and its Qwen3.5 partial-weight-update test entry. It adds FlashInfer GDN decode coverage for misaligned a and b slices. Review findings and test results are unavailable. The reported CI failures do not identify failing tests.
QA Engineer Review
test_flashinfer_gdn_decode.py adds test_fi_decode_misaligned_ab_slices, parameterized for N=1 and N=3. It compares decode outputs and updated state pools for misaligned slices against contiguous clones. The test skips when FlashInfer GDN decode is unsupported.
l0_dgx_b200.yml removes the 8-GPU B200 Ray configuration and its Qwen3.5 35B BF16 TP8 partial-weight-update entry. The Mamba test entry is selected by l0_b200.yml.
waives.txt narrows the existing waiver to test_fi_decode_misaligned_index_slice. The new alignment test is not covered by that waiver.
Coverage verdict: needs follow-up. The test is selected by the B200 CI list, but its execution result is unavailable. The supplied CI failures do not identify failing tests.
Per-File QA Perspective
jenkins/L0_Test.groovy — Removes DGX_B200-8_GPUs-PyTorch-Ray-1 from configured SLURM test jobs. Verify that the remaining CI path provides the intended coverage.
tests/integration/test_lists/test-db/l0_dgx_b200.yml — Removes the 8-GPU B200 Ray configuration and the Qwen3.5 35B BF16 TP8 test entry.
tests/unittest/_torch/modules/mamba/test_flashinfer_gdn_decode.py — Adds decode alignment coverage for misaligned a and b slices. The Mamba test entry is selected in test-db/l0_b200.yml.
tests/integration/test_lists/waives.txt — Limits the existing waiver to test_fi_decode_misaligned_index_slice, leaving the new alignment test unwaived.

Walkthrough
The pull request removes the 8-GPU B200 pre-merge Ray test configuration and test block. It adds guarded FlashInfer GDN decode coverage for misaligned gating-input slices and narrows a waiver to one test.

GDN decode misalignment coverage
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Test misaligned gating-input slices tests/unittest/_torch/modules/mamba/test_flashinfer_gdn_decode.py, tests/integration/test_lists/waives.txt
A guarded, parameterized test covers misaligned a and b slices for N values 1 and 3. It compares decode outputs and updated state pools with calls that use contiguous clones. The waiver now targets test_fi_decode_misaligned_index_slice instead of the entire module.
The new B200 test covers the intended contiguous-but-misaligned GDN decode path, so no concrete merge-blocking risk remains.

With N = 3, .contiguous() copies both misaligned views, so the test can pass after replacing the pre-reshape a/b clones with .contiguous().
Add N = 1 and assert that both misaligned views are contiguous. This exposes the b regression: .contiguous() preserves its misaligned pointer, and no later branch realigns b. The a path is separately protected by the later a_bat.clone(), so the original claim does not apply equally to both inputs. The failure occurs at the FlashInfer alignment check before the output comparison, not through a numerical mismatch against the cloned reference.

Approved from the CI/infra perspective. The Jenkins stage and corresponding Ray test-list entry are removed consistently; the remaining Ray and MPI stages are retained.
Validation note: in L0 #66485 (commit cd30687), the new test_fi_decode_misaligned_ab_slices was SKIPPED, not passed, in both DGX_B200-PyTorch-9 and B300-PyTorch-1. The enclosing modules/mamba group passed, but that does not mean this new case executed successfully. See the JUnit results.
The latest commit, e5b2373, adds the [1] and [3] parameterized cases; no new CI execution results were available when reviewed. There is currently no actual CI PASS evidence for the added decode test.
Automatically added "ci: full pre-merge approved" because this PR has satisfied the required GitHub review approvals. Unresolved review conversations and other required checks remain independent merge requirements.
Resource maintenance in LLM/main/L0_Test-x86_64-Single-GPU #9619: L40S-PyTorch-2 is temporarily paused due to Kubernetes agent provisioning and node issues. Affected stages: L40S-PyTorch-2

…nment test
Run test_fi_decode_misaligned_ab_slices with N=1 and N=3. With N=3 the
misaligned a/b slices are non-contiguous, so replacing the clone with
.contiguous() would still copy and the test would pass. With N=1 the
size-1 token dim makes the slices report as contiguous, so
.contiguous() would keep the misaligned pointer, which is the real
decode case. Assert both views are contiguous for N=1.

The file-level waive for nvbugs/6842831 also skips
test_fi_decode_misaligned_ab_slices, which would leave the replacement
coverage for the removed 8-GPU Ray stage inactive in CI. Narrow it to
test_fi_decode_misaligned_index_slice.
