💡 Vulnerability: The simulation heavily used except Exception: blocks within tight spatial loops to suppress out-of-bounds array access errors (swallowing all exceptions). This is an anti-pattern (CWE-391) that can mask true logic flaws, prevent system signals (like KeyboardInterrupt) from halting execution, and incur heavy performance penalties due to constant exception unwinding.
🎯 Impact: Prevents unintended masking of simulation failures, system errors, or OOM errors. It significantly enhances script reliability and maintainability.
🔧 Fix: Replaced the try...except Exception: blocks in the tight spatial loops with explicit, safe spatial boundary checks (e.g., 0 <= x < self.dim.x).
✅ Verification: Verified with bandit that the B112:try_except_continue issues in spatial loops are resolved. All unit tests successfully pass.
