[FEAT] Implement Client-Side Workspace Layout Preferences and Persistent State Serialization #2802

Closed

Description

@dhruvil-1207

Problem Statement

Currently, when a user selects specific dashboard view configurations, shifts filtering scopes, or hides specific tracking widgets during an analytical session, those localized visual choices are lost upon page reloads. Forcing power users to re-configure their preferred operational focus view on every new session degrades the continuity of the tracking experience.

Proposed Solution

Introduce a client-side layout serialization manager that persists specific visual workspace selections across browser reloads:

  1. State Serialization Hook: Implement a lightweight hook that serializes active workspace configuration objects (e.g., collapsed panels, default tracking timeframes, active visibility states) safely.
  2. Local Hydration Lifecycle: On initial bundle compilation and view mount, read the serialized state payload from localized client cache keys to instantly restore the user's custom view preferences without blocking remote database requests.

Alternatives Considered

  • Forcing static global defaults: Requiring all developers to use the exact same visibility presets and filtering views on every layout mounting, removing workspace personalization.

Acceptance Criteria

  • User-configured visual workspace choices (such as hidden panels or default filtering terms) persist reliably across hard page refreshes.
  • UI layout state correctly falls back to standard repository defaults smoothly if no local preference payload is found.
  • Component rendering avoids flash-of-unstyled-content (FOUC) layout shifts during initial client-side preference hydration.

Additional Context

This enhancement targets local user layout convenience and client-side presentation continuity. I am a GSSoC '26 contributor and would love to build this client state persistence layer. Could you please review and assign this issue to me?
