This project is intended to help you to start and understand the processing block (motion detection) of the BGT60CUTR13API.
The project enables to collect data at multiple stage of the signal processing chain, to understand how the motion detection block works internally.
It also enables to display in a live chart, the computed coordinates of a motion.
The project uses the ULP mode (ultra low power), perform measurement every 1 second, and the signal processing is based on the analysis of a range FFT.
Below you can see the configuration of the measurement and of the motion detection block:
To get the best performances when computing the coordinates, use following orientation for the sensor (The "E" plane arrow should be horizontal).
- ModusToolbox™ v3.8 or later (tested with v3.8)
- Board support package (BSP) minimum required version: 1.0.0
- Programming language C
- KIT_CSK_BGT60CUTR13
- GNU Arm® Embedded Compiler v11.3.1 (
GCC_ARM) - Default value ofTOOLCHAIN
This project uses the board's default configuration.
- Import the project into Modus Toolbox, and build it.
-
Connect the board to your PC using the provided USB cable through the KitProg3 USB connector.
-
After programming, the application starts automatically
-
Confirm that the green LED is flashing.
-
Open a terminal program and select the KitProg3 COM port. Set the serial port parameters to 8N1 and 2000000 baud
-
You should see something like the screenshot below:
- You can use the Python scripts available in the python_scripts directory to visualize the data:
Edit the Makefile to get access to following steps:
- MTI (ADC data after MTI step) -> Use continuous.py or one.shot.py
- RFFT (Result of the range FFT) -> Use continuous.py or one.shot.py
- ULP (Coordinates computed by the motion detection block) -> Use continuous_ulp.py
Example for MTI:
Example for RFFT:
The evaluation board including the software is for testing purposes only and, because it has limited functions and limited resilience, is not suitable for permanent use under real conditions. If the evaluation board is nevertheless used under real conditions, this is done at one’s responsibility; any liability of Rutronik is insofar excluded.
