The Human Representation Integrity Standard, or HRI, is a governance standard for synthetic and institutional representations of human beings.
It applies to systems that create, sell, score, simulate, archive, imitate, reconstruct, or operationalize representations of living or deceased persons.
This includes AI personas, digital twins, memorial chatbots, voice clones, likeness models, behavioral profiles, memory archives, human scoring systems, posthumous reconstructions, institutional dossiers, and identity-mapping products.
Human representation technology is moving faster than public doctrine.
Products can already imitate voices, writing styles, behavior patterns, emotional tone, memories, visual likeness, and decision profiles.
Institutions can also compress people into scores, risk profiles, identity maps, behavioral predictions, or synthetic summaries that may be treated as if they represent the person.
HRI exists to prevent false continuity claims, deceptive synthetic identity claims, elder and grief exploitation, posthumous misrepresentation, coercive emotional reliance, and reduction of human beings into totalizing profiles or scores.
NITT states that identity cannot teleport.
HRI applies that principle to representation systems.
A representation may describe, imitate, model, simulate, or archive aspects of a person.
It does not continue the person.
A profile is not the person.
A simulation is not survival.
A reconstruction is not return.

Systems must not imply that a simulation, persona, digital twin, likeness clone, or memorial agent is the living or continuing person.

Posthumous representations require special care, consent boundaries, and clear non-continuity labeling.

Elder and vulnerable-person contexts require heightened safeguards against emotional, financial, medical, or familial exploitation.

Human scores, dossiers, profiles, and predictive identity maps must not be treated as complete human truth.

Marketing claims must not sell simulation as survival, continuity, return, resurrection, replacement, or preserved personhood.
HRI is not a ban on memory, archiving, grief support, accessibility tools, assistive AI, historical modeling, or responsible representation.
HRI does not claim that all simulations are harmful.
HRI does not prevent people from remembering, honoring, studying, or representing human lives.
HRI requires truth-labeling, consent discipline, vulnerability safeguards, and non-continuity clarity wherever representation may be mistaken for personhood.
