Testing reports I left on other plugin pull requests, per the Community checklist:
Both were tested on SteamOS Stable with Decky Loader 3.2.6. |
Picks up the async pactl rewrite, the derived PipeWire runtime dir, and the titleView fix.

Pin updated to v1.2.0 ( Switching now goes through
Still needs a third-party tester. |

Thank you — that is a genuinely useful report, and all three were real. Fixed in 1. Capture surviving the panel. Correct, and worse than it looked: I checked that the cleanup actually runs rather than assuming it: with an instrumented build on a Steam Machine, navigating away from the plugin page and closing it both fire the unmount, so the cleanup lands immediately and the deadline is the backstop for anything that does not. Re-armed a capture, closed the panel, then pressed the combo — it fires, and the stored binding is still 2. One row and no explanation. Fair, and the description was the bigger problem. 3. Active device not pinned. You were right, the sort was alphabetical only. Pinned now — and pinned in the panel only, which your last sentence turned out to be the important part of. Smaller stuff, both correct. README said "repolls" where the code uses One more, found while checking the above. Happy to have it looked at again whenever you have time — and no rush, you have already put more into this than the checklist asks for. |

Also waiting for merging. Got already a third party test report. Works both on Steam Deck and Steam Machine. |

don't need to approve testing deploy, just a merge, previous one is same content |
…itcher # Conflicts: # .gitmodules
Done and also rebase from main and fixed conflicts. Ready to re-approval. |

Thanks for testing, and for the screenshot. Deck speakers missing next to a USB headset
I have no USB headset to test with on a Deck. Please install v1.4.1 and tell me if both outputs show up: https://github.com/zomars/audio-output-switcher/releases/tag/v1.4.1 The PR now points at v1.4.1. |

That works better. If possible, add settings to allow switching the HDMI output mode. I have monitors that have HDMI audio output and only one of them is useful. If the mode is set to the other, I have to resort to the terminal to change the mode. Here's an example pactl command |
|
Thanks, glad it works now. I can add an HDMI monitor picker. I have only one HDMI display, so I cannot test it myself. When it is ready, I will post a test build here. Can you test it with your two monitors? |
|
Test build with the HDMI monitor picker: https://github.com/zomars/audio-output-switcher/releases/tag/v1.5.0 With two or more screens on HDMI, a new "HDMI Monitor" section lists them by name. Pick one to move the sound there. I have only one screen, so I could not test the switch itself. Please check:
This is separate from this PR, which stays on v1.4.1. |

Works great. Thanks. |

Add Audio Output Switcher to Plugin Store
Audio Output Switcher lets you change the default audio output device directly from the Quick Access Menu, instead of going through Settings → Audio every time. It is for setups with somewhere to switch to — a dock, a TV, a headset, a USB DAC — and especially for a Steam Machine driving a TV, where the QAM audio section is only a CEC volume slider. A handheld with nothing attached has exactly one output, because Steam presents its speakers and headphone jack as a single device, and the panel says so rather than showing a lone row you cannot press.
What it does:
steam-streaming-playbackare dropped, since picking one silences the speakers with nothing to explain why.The backend is the standard Python backend and declares no flags, so it runs as the ordinary user rather than root — no bundled binaries and no subprocesses. Switching goes through
SteamClient.System.Audio, the same API Steam's own audio selector uses; the Python side exists only to persist the shortcut binding across restarts.Submodule is pinned at
125be37(v1.4.1: a Steam Deck's built-in speakers are listed again next to a headset, and show as "Speakers").Task Checklist
