needs-review |
Small free sound-effect library from PacDV: ambience, domestic, interface beeps and clicks, machines, mechanical, people, transportation and voice drops, plus some music. The grant is one paragraph of the publisher's own terms, and it names video, film, audio and multimedia productions, not games or software, so this entry stays needs-review with commercial: unknown.
- Grant: use the sounds "free of charge" in "video, film, audio and multimedia productions." Whether "multimedia" covers a shipped game is not stated, and the catalog does not read silence as a yes for audio (see DEEP-RESEARCH.md)
- The grant does not say commercial either. The home page says the sounds are "royalty free" and have featured in commercials and games, which is marketing, not a licence term
- Forbidden: re-selling or re-licensing the sounds, posting them on a web site for download, hot-linking individual files
- Credit is optional: "please consider linking back" but "you don't have to"
- The interface page offered MP3 downloads on 2026-09-30; check other categories for WAV
- Email contact@pacdv.com for written confirmation before shipping a game. For UI sounds with a clear game grant use kenney-interface-sounds
- Re-checked 2026-10-04: grant paragraph unchanged. Still open: whether "multimedia productions" covers a commercially sold game; no licence or terms page beyond that paragraph exists on the site
- Live home page (2026-09-30): "free of charge in your video, film, audio and multimedia productions"
- Same page (2026-09-30): "do not re-sell or re-license the sounds to anyone else"
- Live interface sounds page (2026-09-30): "please consider linking back to our sound effects site but you don't have to"
- Live home page (2026-10-04): unchanged: "You may use the sound effects and audio clips on this web site free of charge in your video, film, audio and multimedia productions but do not re-sell or re-license the sounds to anyone else, post on a web site for download, or link directly to individual sound files."
