The cross-platform matrix now runs on ubuntu-24.04, ubuntu-26.04 and macos-latest.
It drops ubuntu-22.04 and the fixed macos-14 image.

The ubuntu-24.04 entry stays because users still run scripts/setup-ubuntu.sh on that release.
The other workflows in this repo already use ubuntu-26.04.

Branch protection on main requires the Node 22 / ubuntu-22.04 and Node 22 / macos-14 contexts.
After this merge, those jobs no longer exist, so the required checks need Node 22 / ubuntu-26.04 and Node 22 / macos-latest in their place.
