Replaced the mouse with another one, and it worked. It seems like the receiver is the wrong one.

There is no reason for this happening, as the OS recognizes the USB devices. Wi-Fi is working... if that is not a hardware problem and not a software or OS problem, then I need to reinstall OS and see, it might be an SD card problem I think .....

Reinstalling OS did not solve the problem. I think this might be an RPi-kernel problem. Recent versions of Debian deleted support for older hardware drivers.
