All destination safety ratings, risk assessments, and safety recommendations are produced under the editorial independence of Wandering With Pride Inc. (501(c)(3) nonprofit).
No ratings are produced under the direction of Eisinger Holdings, LLC or any commercial entity. No advertiser, sponsor, B2B client, or partner organization has review or approval rights over any destination risk level or safety rating. Commercial relationships do not influence editorial decisions.

Anyone may use, adapt, and redistribute these materials with attribution. Derivative risk assessments must be published under the same license.
Community-submitted safety reports are owned by their contributors. Wandering With Pride Inc. holds a non-exclusive license to publish approved reports on the WanderSafe platform.
Community-submitted data cannot be:
- Sold to third parties
- Licensed for commercial use without explicit community consent
- Transferred to any entity without the contributor protections in this policy intact
This restriction is binding on Eisinger Holdings, LLC and any future commercial operator of the WanderSafe platform. If the platform changes ownership or structure, this restriction travels with the data.
The following are permanently free and will never be paywalled, gated, or restricted to paid subscribers:
- Emergency contact information for all destinations
- Rainbow Railroad emergency intake (https://www.rainbowrailroad.org/request-help)
- OutRight Action International resources
- US Embassy and consular contacts
- Any information directly relevant to traveler safety, extraction, or evacuation
This commitment is irrevocable under this governance policy. No future business model may contradict it.
- Community reports retained indefinitely, subject to individual deletion requests per PRIVACY.md
- Primary source citations (Equaldex, ILGA, HRW, State Dept) are cited by reference — WanderSafe does not retain scraped copies, only citations with retrieval dates
- Unapproved report submissions deleted within 30 days
Michael Eisinger (founder) travels to many covered destinations. Personal travel experience informs platform design but does not override primary source data in scoring. Any destination where the founder has a direct financial relationship (sponsored travel, accommodation comps, affiliate income) is disclosed in the relevant destination page.
The WanderSafe monitoring agent pipeline is published under the MIT license: https://github.com/WanderingWithPride/wandersafe-agents
The methodology, scoring algorithm (SCORING.md), and data governance policy (this document) are published under Creative Commons licenses as described in Section 2.
The platform will remain open source regardless of grant funding status. If funding is not renewed, the codebase and methodology remain publicly available under their current licenses.
This governance policy may be amended by the Wandering With Pride board of directors. Material changes will be:
- Announced via the WanderSafe Safety Digest newsletter
- Committed to the GitHub repository with a dated commit message
- Effective 30 days after announcement
Amendments that reduce contributor protections (Sections 3–4) require a 90-day notice period.
