Pull request overview
This PR moves long-running repository maintenance operations (commit/pull/push/reset/cleanup/file sync/scan) out of synchronous web requests and into serialized, trackable Celery tasks, reducing proxy/browser timeouts and improving progress visibility. It also adds an opt-in background: true mode for the repository API and surfaces task cancellability to both the UI and API.

When operation == "commit", this directly calls Component.commit_pending() instead of perform_component_commit(). The commit loop calls repository.lock.reacquire() on the assumption that its caller already owns the lock; with Redis this raises because the lock is not owned, while the file-lock backend makes reacquire() a no-op and allows repository writes to run unprotected. Consequently, newly backgrounded browser commits and API requests with background=true can either fail or lose repository serialization; execute this branch through the existing locked wrapper.
