No Camera after upgrading RAM

Hi,
I have a QEMU VM running Kubuntu 24.04 and the latest INDI-AllSky. When I saw a swap file warning, I added 8196 mb of RAM to the VM for a total of 16384mb. The INDI AllSky App showed NO CAMERA after that. Reboot or remapping the VM USB device did not help. The camera is an ASI 676MC. Clear Skies!

Updating the RAM should not affect that. Have you tried reseating the USB connection and trying to remap the USB port?

I do all of my virtualization using QEMU/libvirt. If I have time tomorrow, I will see if I can make this work.

Hi Aaron, The only thing I have not tried is to remove any camera name, and then reload the app, forcing INDI AllSky to search for the first camera it sees. Here is what AI said about this:
Fix 2: Clear the "Camera Name" Field in the UIIf the app registered the camera under a generic or slightly altered name before the VM RAM change, it will lock up trying to look for a device that no longer exists.Go to your indi-allsky web interface.Navigate to the Camera options tab.Look for the "INDI Camera Name" field.Delete everything in this box so it is completely empty.Click Save, and then click the Reload button at the top left.(Leaving it blank forces indi-allsky to auto-detect and claim the very first active camera it sees via INDI, ignoring the cached profile name.) I spent about 3 hours on this today, but I missed this step. Clear Skies!

I dont know if this has to do with anything, but Linux Mint's "USB Viewer" app (on the host OS) shows my asi 676mc on a "USB 2" hub, but its connected directly to the USB 3 motherboard ports on the back of my PC. Clear Skies!

If you switch between indi_asi_ccd and indi_asi_single_ccd you will definitely have to deal with a name change. Both of these servers return a slightly different name when presenting the camera.

Hi Aaron, Just a quick FYI. I changed the OS in my QEMU VM to linux mint, and I still get the same no camera error with the latest version of INDI-AllSky. It seems there are other posts that have a no camera problem. I downloaded and installed the February 2026 version of INDI-AllSky, and it works good, with the ASI676MC connecting from the get go. Looking forward to being able to upgrade to the latest version ..it is so cool! Clear Skies
