maven-archetype-plugin:3.3.1:generate - Error

The version org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-archetype-plugin:3.3.1:generate is throwing

[ERROR] Failed to execute goal org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-archetype-plugin:3.3.1:generate (default-cli) on project standalone-pom: startup failed:
[ERROR] Script1.groovy: 2: unable to resolve class groovy.util.XmlSlurper
[ERROR] @ line 2, column 1.
[ERROR] import groovy.util.XmlSlurper

When run

mvn -B org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-archetype-plugin:3.3.1:generate
-D archetypeGroupId=com.adobe.aem
-D archetypeArtifactId=aem-project-archetype
-D archetypeVersion=52
-D appTitle="My Site"
-D appId="mysite"
-D groupId="com.mysite"

However then change from 3.3.1 to 3.2.1 as below

mvn -B org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-archetype-plugin:3.2.1:generate
-D archetypeGroupId=com.adobe.aem
-D archetypeArtifactId=aem-project-archetype
-D archetypeVersion=52
-D appTitle="Demo Site"
-D appId="demosite"
-D groupId="com.demosite"

It works successfully

The Archetype version org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-archetype-plugin:3.3.1:generate should be fixed

yep, I've just tried to generate and the same error occurred

For those that stumble upon this thread, the fix is to make sure you're using maven-archetype-plugin v3.3.1

mvn -B org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-archetype-plugin:3.3.1:generate <args>
