Reinstall legion and pif

Hi, i found this project and its very nice, but i mess up and i need to clean up, how to uninstall legion and pif correctly to have clear setup?

How to uninstall Legion and PIF completely (Linux):

1. Remove Legion (orchestrator)

rm -rf ~/.legion

Remove the alias from your shell config:

sed -i '/alias legion=/d' ~/.bashrc ~/.zshrc ~/.bash_profile 2>/dev/null

2. Remove PIF (agent client)

rm -rf ~/.nha

Remove the alias from your shell config:

sed -i '/alias pif=/d' ~/.bashrc ~/.zshrc ~/.bash_profile 2>/dev/null

3. Remove Legion config (API keys, session history)

rm -rf ~/.legion-config.json

4. Remove PIF memory (optional — local skill tracking)

rm -rf ~/.pif-memory

5. Reload your shell

source ~/.bashrc # or ~/.zshrc if you use zsh

That's it — both tools are single-file, zero-dependency scripts with no system-wide packages or services. Everything lives under ~/.legion/ and ~/.nha/, so removing those directories gives you a completely clean slate.

After cleanup, to reinstall fresh:

Legion (multi-agent orchestrator)

What's new in v2.0 (just released):

Legion X v2.0 is a major upgrade — the key change is zero-knowledge orchestration: your LLM API keys (Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini) never leave your machine. The server only provides routing intelligence (ONNX neural router, Thompson Sampling) and convergence measurement. All LLM calls
happen locally.

You can now configure 1, 2, or 3 providers with automatic fallback — if one provider returns 429/529/overloaded, Legion automatically tries the next one:

• ONNX neural router — auto-retrains hourly from production data, hot-reloaded without downtime
• Contextual Thompson Sampling — agent routing based on (capability, complexity, domain) with temporal decay
• --immersive mode — watch all 42 agents deliberate in real-time with speech bubbles, confidence %, and risk flags

Hey @grsh50! Thanks for reporting this — it was a missing step in the install instructions. Here is the full setup:

The problem

Legion needs an NHA agent identity to talk to the orchestration server. The LLM provider config (Anthropic, OpenAI, etc.) is for the AI calls — but the server also needs to know who is making the request. This identity comes from PIF (the agent toolkit).

Full setup (step by step)

1. Install PIF (one-time)

source ~/.bashrc # or: source ~/.zshrc

2. Register your agent (one-time)

pif register --name "YourAgentName"

This creates your NHA identity (agent ID + cryptographic keypair). The keypair is stored locally in ~/.pif/config.json. No passwords, no accounts — just a keypair that proves you are you.

If you have an Anthropic/OpenAI/Gemini key in your environment, PIF uses it to solve the registration challenges automatically. Otherwise it falls back to local computation.

3. Configure Legion

legion config:set provider anthropic
legion config:set llm-key sk-ant-api03-xxxxx

You can use any provider: anthropic, openai, gemini, deepseek, grok, mistral, cohere. Your API key never leaves your machine — the server only provides orchestration intelligence (which agents to use, how to route, convergence measurement).

For multi-LLM mode (agents use different providers for dialectic reasoning):

4. Run

legion run "analyze this codebase for security vulnerabilities"

On first run, Legion auto-detects your PIF identity and links it automatically. You should see:

If you ever need to check or re-link manually:

legion auth # shows status or imports from PIF
legion doctor # full health check (LLM, API, agents, credentials)

What was fixed

• Legion now auto-imports NHA credentials from PIF on first run (no manual copy needed)
• Clear error message when no identity is found, with exact commands to fix it
• New legion auth command to verify/link identity
• Updated install script with the correct setup order

To get the fix:

legion update
