# Adam Rida
> AI researcher and founder based between Paris and San Francisco. Builds systems that make large language models more efficient, interpretable, and deployable at scale. Focus areas: LLM routing, learned surrogates, parity-gated deployment, explainable AI, and trustworthy ML.
## About
Adam Rida is the founder of DeepRecall and the creator of TRACER. His work sits at the intersection of LLM efficiency, interpretability, and production ML systems.
He was a PhD candidate at Sorbonne University within the Trustworthy and Responsible AI Lab (TRAIL), a joint research lab between Sorbonne and AXA focused on trustworthy AI. His research there produced novel methods for dynamic interpretability and model comparison.
## Research Contributions
### TRACER (Trace-Based Adaptive Cost-Efficient Routing)
Open-source system for LLM classification cost optimization. TRACER learns which inputs an LLM handles predictably, routes them to a fast ML surrogate, and defers only uncertain inputs back to the LLM. Key contributions:
- Parity-gated deployment: surrogate only goes live when teacher agreement exceeds a calibrated threshold
- Teacher-trace flywheel: deferred LLM calls produce free labeled traces for continual surrogate improvement
- Learn-to-defer framework with formal quality guarantees against the teacher LLM
- Interpretability artifacts (slice summaries, boundary pairs, disagreement cards) that explain routing decisions
- Achieves 90%+ traffic offload on intent classification benchmarks while maintaining parity with the teacher
- Open source: pip install tracer-llm | https://github.com/adrida/tracer
### DeltaXplainer (ECML-PKDD 2023)
Method for explaining differences between machine learning models over time using interpretable surrogates. Addresses the problem of understanding concept drift, model updates, and behavioral changes in deployed ML systems. Published at the DynXAI workshop of ECML-PKDD 2023.
