Hi 👋, I'm Muhammad Asad

Software Engineer building cloud-native applications, backend systems, and full-stack products.

I’m an open-source enthusiast who builds applications end-to-end—from React and Node.js services to Docker containers and Kubernetes deployments. My recent focus is cloud-native engineering: learning how distributed services are packaged, deployed, observed, and operated.

Current focus

Area Focus What that looks like in my work
☸️ Kubernetes & cloud-native 40% Deploying containerized microservices, working with Kubernetes resources, and exploring GPU sharing with HAMi.
⚛️ MERN stack 30% Building React, Node.js, Express, MongoDB, and TypeScript applications.
🛠️ Infrastructure & engineering 30% Docker, Linux, Git/GitHub, cloud fundamentals, API design, and event-driven systems.

Experience

  • LLM Trainer, Turing — recent experience training and evaluating large language models.
  • Technical Trainer, Devweekends — two years of helping learners build practical technical skills.

☸️ Kubernetes & cloud-native work

  • Event-Driven Microservices Blog — a React, Node.js, and Express blog platform split into services for posts, comments, moderation, query projection, and event broadcasting; containerized with Docker and deployed with Kubernetes.
  • Microservices E-Commerce App — a TypeScript e-commerce application where my primary focus was Kubernetes work and deploying microservices.
  • HAMi — hands-on exploration of heterogeneous GPU sharing on Kubernetes.

⚛️ MERN & full-stack projects

🛠️ Infrastructure & backend interests

  • Designing and connecting APIs with Node.js, Express, TypeScript, and MongoDB.
  • Working with Docker and Kubernetes to run services consistently across environments.
  • Building event-driven microservices and understanding the operational side of distributed systems.
  • Exploring, learning from, and contributing to cloud-native and open-source tools, including AI/SRE and data-platform projects.

🐧 Systems engineering & problem solving

Linux Concurrency Synchronization design Performance profiling Benchmarking Testing

  • A daily Linux user for two years, with hands-on experience diagnosing system issues and reporting them clearly.
  • Hands-on systems skills in concurrency, synchronization design, performance profiling, benchmarking, and testing.
  • Applying systems thinking to backend and cloud-native work: finding bottlenecks, reasoning about concurrent services, and building software that is easier to validate and operate.
  • ICPC regional qualifier — strengthening algorithmic problem-solving, data structures, and performance-aware reasoning.

Tech I work with

Kubernetes Docker Linux C Git TypeScript JavaScript React Node.js Express MongoDB AWS
