Our backlog actually still contains a lot of features that are intended for the next release. See https://github.com/bazel-contrib/vscode-bazel/milestone/2
While I do see that the current draft release already contains a few bug fixes (see #594), I would still like to at least see the work on #490 finished. And I hope to be done with that soon.
But I also won't object another maintainers preference if there is any.
