Any advancements in ROCM support yet [Linux]

just checking in ad a followup from January. Wanted to know if anything advanced in this app for ROCM support? i really wish i could use this app as im tired of using onetrainer. i got simpletuner "setup" now but it refuses to train. constant out of memory errors as if its a memory leak. i have a 7900 xtx and train loras and mainly finetuned checkpoints all the time with it but cant get the ball rolling here.

you'll want to make sure you're using the radeon wheels for ROCm torch. there's not much in the way of improvement that simpletuner can contribute unfortunately, mostly up to versions of the OS and training venv to be up to date and functional

for OOMing, you can try RamTorch and use an aggressive preset - but your mileage will vary on AMD.

i personally have my 7900XTX now sitting on a shelf, replaced by a 5090, but that's not possible for everybody, and not helpful for you to know other than "it is what it is, stuck where it is" at the moment.

i see, i originally upgraded from my 3090 to a 7900XTX back in the day when i went to linux as nvidia support was a tad shaky and unstable. i heard that radeon was way more stable and better for linux. and for the most part it is. but now that i have gained interest in playing with AI i realize its still an Nvidia world after all. now nvidia cards cost 3 times the cost of my first car!🤣
