I had the same problem and I solved it by installing python 3.9 and everything works fine.

Here my solution work fine

1. First clone Blankly repository instead:

$ git clone https://github.com/blankly-finance/blankly.git
$ cd blankly 

2. Set up using uv (recommended):

# Install uv if you don't have it
$ pip install uv

# Install python 3.9 (for blankly support) inside UV
$ uv python install 3.9

# create an venv with python 3.9
$ uv venv --python 3.9

# Activate the virtual environment (and need to activate it each time you return to use it again.)

# For Windows (CMD):
.venv\Scripts\activate.bat

# For macOS/Linux:
source .venv/bin/activate

3. Install Blankly via setup.py:

$ uv pip install .

4. Create demo folder and just run it:

$ mkdir demo
$ cd demo
$ blankly init
