Centralized backup server + restore from clients?

Hi,

I need to backup a number of servers and would like to manage all of it centrally. I understand there are some solutions for this, but what I would also like is read only access from each managed server in order to restore files from the client itself, preferably without requiring too much client configuration.

If, as a bonus, this would also let me restore files with the original user and group owners, that would be great.

Closing this as outdated: it has seen no activity for a long time and predates the current borg releases.
