Definition:

Flow Distribution is a measure of the proportion of work items by type in a system. (From SAFe)

Why:

So we can understand the different types of work we are accomplishing (tickets shut) over a range of key themes - such as: dev, UX, research, tech debt, bug, incident, etc. Understanding these patterns helps us see if we are on track, or not, towards our intended targets or general expectations for advancing these various types of work.

How:

Explore automations to pull the Zenhub bottleneck tracking report data into a living dashboard, with filters set to isolate certain key tags of interest

Checklist:

  • Experiment with options to pull data from Zenhub bottleneck tracking reports (especially using Superset)
  • Identify range of proposed tags of interest and validate with PM and Head of Notify
  • If some tags are not being used properly or at all (e.g. tech debt), consider ways to improve this & document next steps
  • Generate first draft and seek feedback
  • document any next steps (in this ticket or a future ticket)- including, how will this be maintained? how will this be used?
  • Share results with App + Notify team
