🧩 Problem Statement

Currently, BiblioDrift offers a beautifully immersive reading experience through its 3D Virtual Library and ambient profile system, but the platform lacks a visual way for users to reflect on their long-term reading consistency and engagement patterns.

While metrics like total books or reading stats are useful, they do not fully capture the rhythm of a user's reading journey over time.

This creates several UX gaps:

  • ❌ No visual representation of reading consistency
  • ❌ Difficult to observe long-term reading habits
  • ❌ Limited sense of progression and engagement
  • ❌ Profile dashboard feels less interactive over time

For a cozy, aesthetic-first platform like BiblioDrift, introducing a subtle and ambient activity visualization would significantly enhance the emotional connection users have with their library.

💡 Proposed Solution

Introduce a GitHub-style Reading Heatmap (Contribution Graph) to the profile.html dashboard.

The heatmap would visually represent reading activity over time using softly color-coded cells that reflect the frequency of interactions such as:

  • 📚 Finishing books
  • 📖 Starting books
  • ⭐ Favoriting books
  • 🌀 Interacting with the 3D library
  • 🔖 Moving books between shelves

Instead of competitive metrics or gamification-heavy streak systems, the heatmap would provide a calm, ambient reflection of the user’s reading journey — perfectly aligned with BiblioDrift’s “Zero UI Noise” philosophy.

✅ Acceptance Criteria

  • Heatmap grid added to profile.html
  • Reading actions generate timestamped activity logs
  • Activity data stored in localStorage
  • Heatmap renders dynamically based on stored activity
  • Multiple activity intensity levels visually represented
  • Hover tooltips display contextual activity information
  • Heatmap adapts correctly to all ambient sanctuary themes
  • Responsive layout works on mobile/tablet devices
  • Horizontal scrolling handled gracefully on smaller screens
  • No heavy charting libraries introduced unnecessarily
