Adding some books for diversity in the website. #551
I went through the website and saw the features in it. While I agree that the UI/UX design looks good and the overall look of the website is very relaxing and calm, it seems there's a major problem in the content that conflicts with the website.
I happened to see the books in the website and I have to state this issue here - the books are basically the same in almost every category. The same titles are displayed almost everywhere. Rainy Evening Reads, Forgotten Classics, etc. show the same books. I don't suppose Frank Herbert is an Indian Author.
I propose changing the books in each category and also adding a few additional books for the same. After all, the purpose of the website would fail if the content goes wrong in the first place.
I am a GSSoC '26 contributor. Kindly allow me to work on this issue @devanshi14malhotra.
(For reference, I have also added a screenshot in this).
Hi, I’d like to work on this issue. I can improve book diversity across categories by restructuring the dataset and ensuring unique curated lists per section.
Hello @devanshi14malhotra , I would like to collaborate on this to improve book diversity under GSSoC'26. I can help curate and add unique titles to these sections as I love reading.
@devanshi14malhotra Yes Ma'am. I have already put up a Pull Request regarding this issue. I have solved it using a Google Books API that I created. I have attached screenshots of the results on my request. I ran the backend locally and tested it, so it completely works. You may please look at the Pull Request. The hash ID is #711, I believe.
