[FEATURE]: Add "Request a Book" feature for users to suggest new books to the library #568
Currently BiblioDrift does not have
a way for users to suggest or request
new books to be added to the platform.
Implementation Plan
Add "Request a Book" button
on Discovery page
Create a simple HTML form
with required fields
Style it with existing
BiblioDrift CSS theme
Show success message after submission
Problem Statement
Currently, BiblioDrift does not provide
any way for users to suggest or request
new books to be added to the platform.
Users who are looking for specific books
that are not available have no option
to communicate their preferences to
the platform administrators.
This missing feature reduces user
engagement and makes the platform
feel one-sided, where only admins
decide what books are available.
Proposed Solution
Proposed Solution
Add a "Request a Book" button/form
where users can submit:
Book title
Author name
Genre
Why they want this book
Alternatives Considered
No response
Additional Context
Benefits
Better user engagement
Community-driven book discovery
Users feel more connected
to the platform
Tech I'll Use
HTML, CSS, JavaScript (basic form handling)
I would like to work on this as
a GSSoC 2026 contributor. @devanshi14malhotra
please assign this to me!
@aarushii25 there is a 'search' for books functionality...
you can integrate this form with that...
but would u just be working on frontend? or integrating api calls as well?

@devanshi14malhotra I was primarily planning to work on the frontend implementation and UI integration for the "Request a Book" feature.
For now, I can create the form, integrate it with the existing design system, and handle basic frontend interactions/success states.
If needed later, I would also be interested in exploring API integration support step-by-step.
