Current Behavior

Hello devanshi,
I'm Sonal Dhonde. A contributor from GSSOC'26.
These are some issues I found.

  1. Weak visual hierarchy makes sections blend together, reducing content clarity and navigation ease.
  2. Several areas feel incomplete due to placeholder-style content and generic labels.
  3. Lack of a strong primary CTA creates confusion about the user’s next action.
  4. Search and recommendation flow feels static and lacks interactive feedback.
  5. Inconsistent navigation terminology affects overall UX consistency.
  6. Accessibility concerns such as low contrast and muted typography may impact readability.
  7. Genre discovery section feels visually flat and less engaging.
  8. The platform promises personalization but currently provides limited tailored experiences.
  9. Absence of social proof elements reduces user trust and engagement.
  10. AI-powered features are not clearly explained or differentiated.
  11. Book cards lack depth and contextual recommendation details.
  12. Empty-state experiences are not optimized for first-time users.
  13. Strong brand identity is not fully reflected in the interaction design and experience flow.
  14. Footer design feels generic compared to the platform’s unique literary theme.
  15. Some sections expose structural or placeholder-like content, affecting production polish and perceived reliability.

Suggested Improvement

  1. Establish a stronger visual hierarchy using clearer typography scaling, spacing, and section differentiation.
  2. Replace placeholder content with meaningful sample data and polished microcopy.
  3. Introduce a clear primary CTA such as “Start Exploring” or “Get Personalized Recommendations.”
  4. Improve the search experience with dynamic loading states, recommendation explanations, and personalization cues.
  5. Standardize navigation and labeling terminology across all sections.
  6. Enhance accessibility by improving contrast ratios, readability, and focus states.
  7. Redesign genre discovery with richer visuals, hover interactions, icons, and recommendation previews.
  8. Add personalization features such as mood-based onboarding, curated shelves, and adaptive recommendations.
  9. Incorporate social proof elements like ratings, reviews, reading trends, or community activity.
  10. Clearly communicate the purpose and value of AI-driven insights through onboarding or feature descriptions.
  11. Enrich book cards with summaries, mood tags, themes, and related recommendations.
  12. Design engaging empty states with starter collections and onboarding recommendations.
  13. Strengthen brand immersion through refined animations, transitions, and emotionally driven interactions.
  14. Redesign the footer to better align with the literary and atmospheric identity of the platform.
  15. Conduct frontend QA testing to eliminate placeholder rendering and improve production-level polish.

Benefits

  1. Improved visual hierarchy will make content easier to scan and enhance overall user navigation.

  2. Replacing placeholder content with meaningful information will increase platform credibility and user trust.

  3. A strong primary CTA will guide users more effectively, improving engagement and conversion rates.

  4. Enhancing the search experience will create a more interactive and personalized discovery process.

  5. Consistent navigation terminology will improve usability and reduce user confusion.

  6. Better accessibility will make the platform more inclusive and improve readability for all users.

  7. A more engaging genre discovery section will encourage deeper exploration and increase user retention.

  8. Personalization features will create a stronger emotional connection with users and improve recommendation relevance.

  9. Adding social proof will build trust, encourage participation, and strengthen community engagement.

  10. Clearly explaining AI features will increase feature adoption and help users understand the platform’s unique value.

  11. Richer book cards will provide better decision-making support and improve content engagement.

  12. Well-designed empty states will improve first-time user experience and reduce drop-off rates.

  13. Stronger brand immersion will make the platform more memorable and emotionally engaging.

  14. A more thematic footer will improve overall brand consistency and user experience.

  15. Fixing rendering and polish issues will enhance professionalism, reliability, and perceived product quality.

Possible Implementation

  1. Use stronger typography hierarchy, better spacing, section dividers, and elevated cards for improved visual structure.

  2. Replace placeholder text with curated sample books, real author names, descriptions, and cover images.

  3. Add a prominent hero section with a clear CTA such as “Explore Books” or “Get Personalized Recommendations.”

  4. Implement live search suggestions, loading animations, recommendation explanations, and advanced filtering.

  5. Create a centralized design system to maintain consistent navigation labels and terminology.

  6. Improve accessibility using WCAG-compliant contrast ratios, readable typography, and visible focus states.

  7. Add hover effects, icons, preview cards, animations, and visual genre categorization for genre discovery.

  8. Introduce onboarding quizzes, mood-based recommendations, user preference tracking, and adaptive recommendation systems.

  9. Integrate ratings, reviews, trending books, reader activity feeds, and community engagement features.

  10. Add onboarding tooltips, feature walkthroughs, and “How AI Works” explanations for AI-powered features.

  11. Enhance book cards with summaries, mood tags, themes, ratings, reading time, and related recommendations.

  12. Design interactive empty states with starter collections, onboarding prompts, and curated reading suggestions.

  13. Use smooth transitions, immersive animations, cinematic typography, and atmospheric UI interactions to strengthen branding.

  14. Redesign the footer with curated reading playlists, literary quotes, seasonal recommendations, and community links.

  15. Perform frontend QA testing, responsive validation, bug fixing, and production-level rendering optimization.

    Hi @sonaladhonde3-debug,
I would like to work on this issue under GSSoC’26.

I understand this is a broad UI/UX improvement, so I will start by addressing a focused part (such as improving visual hierarchy and CTA structure or enhancing one section at a time) to keep the PR clean and reviewable.

Please assign this issue to me.
