fix(desktop): keep names like Claude Code and GitHub in generated setting labels - #530
Settings that have no hand-written label get one from the config key (or the schema title) through humanize() in desktop/src/lib/utils.ts. It lowercased every word after the first, so models.claude_code_max_concurrent came out as "Claude code max concurrent", with a lowercase c in Claude Code.
The override for that one key, 'models.claude_code_max_concurrent': { label: 'Claude Code runs at once' }, already landed in #448 (commit a560001, "plainer labels"), so Settings > Models shows the plain label on main today. I checked the rest of Settings > Models: every field it renders (local_only, the local model sharing keys, the budget keys and claude_code_max_concurrent) has a label in LABELS. Nothing there still reads like a config key.
The cause is still in the generator, so this PR fixes humanize() itself. It keeps a short list of names and short forms spelled their own way (Claude Code, ChatGPT, OpenAI, GitHub, WhatsApp, Home Assistant, MCP, OAuth, ID, URL, TTS, TTL and a few others) and only matches whole words. A new key, or a key without a label, can no longer show "Claude code" or "Github". Generated labels that change on other Settings pages include:
Other callers of humanize() (tool names, suggestion sources, enum options) get the same spelling. The callers that lowercase the result afterwards (toolMeta.ts) are unchanged.
I left out the unit suffixes (_s, _mb) and the wording of these unlabelled fields. Those would need hand-written LABELS entries, and they are outside this issue.
How I tested it
desktop/tests/humanize.test.ts (new): the key and the schema title of claude_code_max_concurrent both become "Claude Code max concurrent". It also checks the other names, plain sentence case, and that names only match whole words ("Valid idea", "Claudette"). Without the fix, 2 of its 4 tests fail.
cd desktop && npm test: 124 passed, 0 failed
npm run typecheck: clean
npm run build: builds

I listed every schema field without a LABELS entry by walking SentientConfig.model_json_schema() the way collectGroups does. That list is where the examples above come from.

Bug Fixes
Settings without custom labels now display product names and acronyms with their preferred capitalization, including Claude Code, Home Assistant, ChatGPT, and GitHub.
Capitalization is preserved when these names appear within longer camelCase keys, while other words continue to use sentence-style capitalization.
Automatically generated labels convert spaces, underscores, hyphens, camelCase, and PascalCase into readable text while handling punctuation and digits.

Explanation
The title names the main change: the desktop label generator now keeps product names such as Claude Code and GitHub in generated setting labels. The changeset matches this. The humanize() function in desktop/src/lib/utils.ts preserves configured product names and acronyms, and the changelog entry and new tests cover the same behavior. The title is specific and single-sentence, and it avoids file lists and vague terms. The 80-character length is slightly long but acceptable.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Issue #454 asks for a plain Settings label for models.claude_code_max_concurrent and a check for similar generated labels in Settings > Models. The whole-PR diff changes humanize() in desktop/src/lib/utils.ts. It adds a NAMES map (including Claude-independent entries such as ChatGPT, GitHub, OAuth, MCP, TTS, TTL, URL, ID), a PHRASES rule for 'Claude Code' and 'Home Assistant', and whole-word matching via \b boundaries. For the key claude_code_max_concurrent, the traced output is 'Claude Code max concurrent'. The new desktop/tests/humanize.test.ts asserts this output for the bare key and for the schema title 'Claude Code Max Concurrent'. This removes the lowercase 'c' in 'Claude code' that the issue reports. The PR states that a LABELS override ('Claude Code runs at once', from #448) already displays on main, and that every Settings > Models field has a LABELS entry. I did not inspect the LABELS file, so that statement rests on the PR description and the referenced commit. The remaining done-when item is a screenshot, which is non-coding and not assessed.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
All changed files are desktop/src/lib/utils.ts, desktop/tests/humanize.test.ts, and changes/454.fixed.md. The utils.ts change fixes the same root cause as #454, which is capitalization in the generated label. The wider effect on other Settings pages and on other humanize() callers (tool names, suggestion sources, enum options) follows directly from changing that one shared function. The PR description discloses these effects with examples. The new tests cover them. The unit suffixes and unlabelled field wording are explicitly left unchanged, and I found no unrelated change. The changelog entry is documentation for the same fix.
Full details: Docstring Coverage
Explanation
Docstring coverage is 100.00% which is sufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 3 functions across 2 files.

A rabbit checks each label’s name, And keeps the capitals just the same. Through keys and words, the tests pass by, Claude Code stays spelled just right. The changelog marks the spelling bright. The rabbit hops beneath the night.

npm run typecheck: clean. npm test: 128 passed, 0 failed. npm run build: builds.
Every generated Settings label, main vs this branch. I walked SentientConfig.model_json_schema() the way collectGroups does and ran both versions of humanize() on every group title, field title or key without a LABELS entry, and every enum value: 215 strings, 14 changed, 201 identical. The 14 are all the intended ones: Experimental Claude Code, ChatGPT client ID, GitHub OAuth client ID, MCP timeout s, Home Assistant live, Home Assistant check s, Webhook max body KB, Suggestion TTL hours, OpenAI (speech and voice engine options), CPU, TTS first clause chars, WhatsApp, Max file MB. No ordinary label changed.
Words that merely contain a name are left alone: paid_plan, ideas, uid, aid, skid, idle_seconds, mbox_path, kbd_shortcut, dockerfile, claude_codes ("Claude codes") all read the same as on main.
Real app. Built the desktop from main and from this branch, seeded a throwaway home (Maya Rao seed scripts, tasks paused, model address pointed at a closed port), and captured Settings > Models, Advanced, Voice and Proactivity with scripts/smoke.mjs on both.
Advanced > Web & integrations: main shows "Github oauth client id", "Mcp timeout s", "Home assistant live", "Home assistant check s", "Webhook max body kb"; this branch shows "GitHub OAuth client ID", "MCP timeout s", "Home Assistant live", "Home Assistant check s", "Webhook max body KB". Every other row on the page is unchanged.
Voice: "Run recognition on" reads Auto / CPU / GPU and "TTS first clause chars" has its capitals; the other rows match main.
Models: identical on both, as you said in the description (every field there already has a hand-written label, including "Claude Code runs at once" from #448).
All CodeRabbit threads are resolved, and I agree with how each was handled (own-property lookup, partial matches left to the camelCase split). CI is green and the CLA is signed.
One harmless edge I noticed, not worth a change: a domain like repo.github.io becomes "Repo.GitHub.io". Nothing in Settings humanizes a domain.
Merged. Thank you @sharmis-tp, and welcome! A tidy first PR: the name list plus the part-of-a-word guard was exactly right.
