Compiler Progress Tracker

Release-line policy is owned by SemVer And Release Posture; this page tracks the implementation evidence that informs future graduation decisions.

This page answers, in plain language, how the compiler's evidence and graduation readiness are holding up.

It is intentionally conservative:

  • compile/inventory closure is not treated as blanket semantic closure,
  • green CI is evidence, not victory by itself,
  • public readiness claims should weaken before the evidence does, not after.

The live status block below is generated from the internal tracker so docs stay aligned with project reality.

Live status (auto-generated)

Status snapshot generated from the internal tracker via npm run docs:sync:progress.

Workstream What this means Status
Core compiler/runtime baseline Core language lowering, runtime primitives, and the validated milestone baseline are in place. closed
Real-application stress harness Non-trivial app coverage validates behavior under realistic usage. closed
Release-evidence hardening Status docs, semantic-confidence evidence, and readiness claims have been hardened against the current proof depth. closed
  • Hardening checklist completion: 5 / 5 closed (100%)
  • Remaining hardening checks: 0

Current release discipline checklist

The current release-readiness question is now:

  1. Are public status docs saying only what current evidence supports?
  2. Are tracker-backed status docs internally consistent?
  3. Is compile coverage clearly separated from semantic/runtime parity?
  4. Are the highest-risk semantic buckets covered by explicit contract tests or downgraded docs?
  5. Do the main CI-equivalent commands stay green while the hardening tranche is open?

Current state:

  • The core compiler/runtime baseline is complete.
  • The real-app harness is complete.
  • Release-evidence hardening closeout is complete.
  • The current release posture and measurable 1.0 graduation gate are recorded in docs/semver-release-posture.md.

Confidence framing

Current confidence is best described as:

  • architecture confidence: high
  • implementation confidence: high on the validated lanes
  • release-truth confidence: hardened to the current proof depth
  • broad semantic-closure confidence: intentionally narrower than any blanket parity claim

Risk radar

  • Cross-platform drift can still appear late when sys APIs are exercised in less common combinations.
  • String mode/profile behavior must remain clearly documented to avoid user confusion.
  • Escape-hatch usage can hide portability regressions if not kept behind typed boundaries.
  • Tier2 inventory closure can still be overread as runtime parity if the evidence taxonomy drifts.
