Additional notes for reviewers
Publisher affiliation: submitted by the SkillDB maintainer. This is an external plugin submission, not a request to copy hosted catalog content into Awesome Copilot.
The Agent Plugins 1.0 package has six files: plugin.json, mcp.json, README.md, LICENSE, the SkillDB logo, and one find-skills/SKILL.md. It contains no executables, hooks, credentials, or third-party skill bodies. No SkillDB account or API key is needed. The remote server exposes public search and short previews only; it does not install skills or access private/team data.
The added value is a source-linked catalog discovery workflow, rather than generic coding instructions. The workflow requires using returned IDs, showing evidence and limitations, treating catalog text as untrusted reference material, and honestly reporting unavailable tools or empty results. It sends only task-relevant keywords and selected public IDs to https://skilldb.dev/api/mcp/catalog. Operational request logging and data handling are documented in the package README and https://skilldb.dev/privacy.
Validation on October 5, 2026:
- Both JSON files pass their official Agent Plugins 1.0 schemas; exact six-file package inventory checked.
- GitHub Copilot CLI 1.0.92 installed this package successfully and reported one skill enabled, including a reinstall after final shared-instruction alignment.
- A live Copilot discovery prompt could not complete: the test account's organization policy disabled third-party MCP servers and denied Copilot CLI access. We did not bypass that policy and do not claim a successful end-to-end Copilot conversation.
- Gemini CLI 0.62.0, using the same public endpoint and discovery skill, installed the companion extension and reported the live MCP server Connected. Authenticated Gemini model behavior and the VS Code UI have not been verified.
Copilot currently warns that direct repository/local installs will be replaced by marketplace-only installs in a future release; a reviewed marketplace entry is the intended distribution route. No directory approval is claimed.
Submission checklist
- The plugin lives in a public GitHub repository.
- The ref and/or sha I provided is immutable (release tag and/or full 40-character commit SHA), not a branch.
- This submission follows this repository's contribution, security, and responsible AI policies.
- This plugin is not already listed in the Awesome Copilot marketplace.
Follow-up validation after publication
The published GitHub subfolder also installed successfully with Copilot CLI 1.0.92. Gemini CLI 0.62.0 installed the public repository pinned to the submitted SHA, and its MCP status reported the catalog server Connected. The previously disclosed account-policy/authentication limits remain unchanged.
The initial intake run https://github.com/github/awesome-copilot/actions/runs/37367923585 could not acquire a GitHub-hosted runner. Its evaluate-submission check was cancelled before any validation steps ran; the annotation states: "The job was not acquired by Runner of type hosted even after multiple attempts." This update provides the completed public-install evidence and lets the normal edited-issue intake retry. The submitted plugin SHA and metadata are unchanged.
