Repos I am interested in contributing to
Hyprland (hyprwm/Hyprland) annd the Hyprland wiki if needed for the new config docs
What I want to contribute right now
A feature: native focus flash and shrink effects (like hyprfocus), so windows can briefly flash or scale when focused without a plugin. I already have a branch ready to be PR'd over no AI used :)
Unfortunately hyprfocus is no longer maintained across its various forks. I think that presents a good opportunity to bring the functionality into Hyprland itself, where it fits naturally alongside the existing animation system and can be maintained as a native compositor feature rather than through external rendering hooks.
Why the above bug / feature specifically?
I’ve been using hyprfocus for a while and really like the visual feedback it provides when switching windows. Over time, though, it’s become clear that this functionality fits more naturally as part of Hyprland itself than as an external plugin. Since hyprfocus is no longer actively maintained across its various forks, this felt like a good opportunity to implement the feature using Hyprland’s native animation and rendering systems. I think focus feedback is a natural extension of the existing animation framework and is better maintained as a core compositor feature than through external rendering hooks.
