What I want to contribute right now

I'm contributing to linux-surface and perhaps some small commits here to fix problems on Surface devices if I see them.

Why the above bug / feature specifically?

probably is personal usecases.

Well perhaps I'm making this a XY. In simple terms without this patch wayland clients (e.g wev) receive nothing of stylus input events (besides the only two events that work are proximitiy_in and proximity_out) without Typecover attached.

Weirdly the desktop cursor moves by the pen but nothing else. All this until you attach some pointer device (seemingly unrelated) and it all works.

desktop cursor is controlled by Hyprland, and it does move with the stylus, which probably is not how it should be but we kinda do that. Ideally, we'd show a separate cursor, but our current backend would commit sudoku if we tried that.

Grepping through code, hm, it does seem like tablets are treated as pointer inputs. I guess the patch was "fixing" it, but it's not how it should be fixed. I'll make a proper patch.
