We as members, contributors and maintainers pledge to make participation in this project a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, visible or invisible disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, caste, colour, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.
We pledge to act and interact in ways that contribute to an open, welcoming, diverse, inclusive and healthy community.
Examples of behaviour that contributes to a positive environment:
- Demonstrating empathy and kindness toward other people.
- Being respectful of differing opinions, viewpoints and experiences.
- Giving and gracefully accepting constructive feedback.
- Accepting responsibility, apologising to those affected by our mistakes, and learning from the experience.
- Focusing on what is best for the community and for the people holding the hardware, not just for us as individuals.
Examples of unacceptable behaviour:
- Sexualised language or imagery, and sexual attention or advances of any kind.
- Trolling, insulting or derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks.
- Public or private harassment.
- Publishing others' private information, such as a physical or email address, without their explicit permission.
- Other conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting.
Braino! is built for young children, and screenshots, issues and pull requests here sometimes carry a child's profile name or a photograph of a device in somebody's home. Redact before you post. If you notice that somebody else has not, say so kindly or report it privately rather than quoting it onward. Treating that as an ordinary part of review, rather than as an accusation, is the whole of what is being asked.
Reviews here are held to written standards — CONTRIBUTING.md, CLAUDE.md and
the per-directory rules — and a review comment citing one of those is about the
change, not about you. Equally: citing a rule is not a licence to be unkind
while doing it.
Maintainers are responsible for clarifying and enforcing these standards, and will take appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any behaviour they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive or harmful.
Maintainers have the right and responsibility to remove, edit or reject comments, commits, code, issues and other contributions that are not aligned with this Code of Conduct, and will communicate reasons for moderation decisions when appropriate.
This Code of Conduct applies within all project spaces — issues, pull requests, discussions and commit history — and also applies when an individual is officially representing the project in public spaces.
Report abusive, harassing or otherwise unacceptable behaviour to esp32.gume@proton.me. All complaints will be reviewed and investigated promptly and fairly, and the privacy and security of the reporter will be respected.
This is a single-maintainer project, and the maintainer is not a neutral party if the report concerns the maintainer. That is a real limitation and worth saying rather than papering over: if it comes to that, GitHub's own reporting mechanisms sit above this project and can be used directly.
Maintainers will follow these guidelines in determining consequences:
1. Correction. Impact: inappropriate language or other behaviour deemed unprofessional or unwelcome. Consequence: a private written warning, clarifying the nature of the violation and why the behaviour was inappropriate. A public apology may be requested.
2. Warning. Impact: a violation through a single incident or series of actions. Consequence: a warning with consequences for continued behaviour. No interaction with the people involved for a specified period, including unsolicited interaction with those enforcing this Code. Violating these terms may lead to a temporary or permanent ban.
3. Temporary ban. Impact: a serious violation of community standards, including sustained inappropriate behaviour. Consequence: a temporary ban from any sort of interaction or public communication with the project for a specified period.
4. Permanent ban. Impact: demonstrating a pattern of violation, including sustained inappropriate behaviour, harassment of an individual, or aggression toward or disparagement of classes of individuals. Consequence: a permanent ban from any sort of public interaction within the project.
