This just documents how we plan to use the two pots of money we've got, it also adds a link to the folder where financial reports go for easy reference.

maybe @jasongrout or @Naomi-Wash could give a quick look and then we can merge if this is ok?

## Plausible

We use [Plausible](https://plausible.io/) to track web traffic across Jupyter sites (`docs.jupyter.org`, `jupyter.org`, `mybinder.org`, `nbviewer.org`, and others), so that the EC can make decisions with real usage data. The [jupyter.org dashboard](https://plausible.io/jupyter.org/) is public.

## How we use the money

Day to day, the EC treats these as two pots:

  • Is the Foundation budget pot talking about the foundation funds as a whole, or the foundation funds allocated to the EC?
  • Currently, do the existing funds sit in the c3, or are they in the foundation (see below where we discussed the tradeoff)? In other words, does the EC have formal control over the funds, or is it a delegation from the foundation? If control over the c3-origin funds is a delegation from the foundation, is that explicit from the foundation's perspective?

@jasongrout

  • Foundation budget pot refers to the foundation funds allocated to the EC. Essentially they want to use those funds first before spinning down the funds in the Charities account since we're not sure if/when it'll be replinished.
  • Existing funds sit in both the c3 and the foundation budget, what the board alloated to the EC. EC has formal control of the funds in the c3 and the funds allocated to them from the GB. Meaning they don't need board approval on how to spend either.
